will drag bars fit my 1998 custom 1200 stock risers and turn lights?

They should. Only thing you have to look out for is clearance at the gas tank on full turns, and with the turnsignals on the bars, they might interfere. You might want to relocate them to the forks, pretty easy and inexpensive. I think the relocation kit costs like $30 or $40. You can try and take a piece of broomstick as wide as the bars you're looking at, maybe 28"-32", and test fit them for clearance on the tank. That also depends on if you want the straight bars or slight pullback.

I have straight 4" risers and the turn signals barely clear the tank. I would think they would hit with pull back risers, but i'm not certain on that.

I've got 4" pullback risers that I got from phatperformance parts. Someone out here told me they had 4" pullbacks from HD that DID hit their tank so go figure. I moved the turn signals to the forks before even checking if they hit the tank. Not saying they'll hit, I just didn't check. Bars are close to the tank on a full turn but they don't hit anything. Got the turn signal reloc. kit from jp cycles, think it was 30.00. I like the 4" pullbacks. I tried 6.5" and it just didn't look proportionate at all so went back to the 4".

I also have 4 1/2 inch pullbacks. I still have the turn signals in the same location and I have 32" wide drag bars. I have enought clearence to stick my thumb between the tank and bars but that is just about all of the clearence that I have.

I didn't even think about how the bar width would affect things. I have 28" wide drag bars.

Yeah, smart move. You don't want to have to re-wire the bike for risers... I'm sort of going through the same deal, but with my headlamp. I have an XLH, which has the headlamp mounting hood. I totally hate how that thing looks, and no matter what I do with it (cut, grind, shape) it'll look like ass to me. All the wiring is tucked up under that hood. If I get a different headlight that mounts to the lower triple tree, I'd have to re-wire all that crap. So I painted it flat blak, that way I won't see it that good...
