I am swapping a xb12r onto an ironhead frame. I think the 05 xb12r stem is about 5/8 inch too long to work for me. What stems are similar enough to work with my triples, but a little shorter? I have the 05 xb stem at about 10 1/8 inches top to bottom. Thats about 9 15/16 from top to c-clip.

I am trying to avoid as much machine work as I can. Thanks for the help.

Primerd79, you should be able to press out the stems of both sets of triple trees. The stem from your iron head should press into the xb tree. I think you are going to run into problems installing the top bearing correctly. the xb's use a sealed bearing with no preload on them, the iron head uses a tapered bearing that requires torque to be installed correctly. What you are trying to do can absolutely be done but you are going to have to do some machining on the top tree to make it work with tapered bearings. If you have anymore questions post em and I'll try to help you out!
