I would love to see that. What did the wide glide conversion cost and what parts did you use?? Thanks sleestack 10th March 2005, 20:54 I will post a straight on shot tomorrow after I get this triple tree cover, I had to handmake, back from the chromer. I used the accutronix triple trees with a 3 degree rake. I noticed that on some of the wide glide conversions the risers looked funny or didn't allow the wiring to go through. So I bought the triple tress with a cutout for the head light cover. After I got it I thought I would just put the stock triple tree cover that comes on the Custom model on the new trees, WRONG. It would not fit. I ran it like this for the last few months. Finally last week I bought a brake bender and made the cover out of sheet metal. I should have it back tomorrow. The cost of the conversion was like $650. HellRazur 10th March 2005, 22:56 I like it bro........ I like it alot!! sleestack 10th March 2005, 23:06 Thanks HellRazur. I should have waited about an hour before taking those pictures. Right after I posted them the UPS guy knocked on the door with my laydown license plate mount. I can't get over how goofy the stock plate mount is. bubbahog 11th March 2005, 04:20 I really like those forks. :clap Unfortunately, it looks like I'll have to add yet another project to the "to-do" list. ml504 11th March 2005, 04:33 Looking good! Can you post a pic of it from the side to get a true view of the rake you got from the 3 degree trees? Thanks, Matt sleestack 11th March 2005, 06:39 I'll snap off some straight on side and front shots later today so you could get a better look at it. 82ndJumper 11th March 2005, 07:17 If you have a before and after pick I would like to see. So far the bike looks great. jimmyheadgear 11th March 2005, 18:45 sleestack Looks great! How do you like your front fender? I would like to get that one because it looks like it sits closer to the wheel than the stock fender. Am I right? sleestack 11th March 2005, 20:24 OK here are some more I took today. First this is the piece I had to make for the headlight cover area of the triple tree. Fresh from the chromer. It took alot of work to get it to fit right. http://www.mindspring.com/~rezz69/scoot5.jpg Here is a front shot. http://www.mindspring.com/~rezz69/scoot3.jpg Here is a straight on side shot. http://www.mindspring.com/~rezz69/scoot4.jpg Yes the front fender sits really close to the tire. I can't even get my little finger in there. The only thing I don't like about the front fender is that it is fiberglass not metal. I wish it would have said this on the Harley website before I ordered. Also it is a little wide but that is ok as I was to go to a little bit wider front tire in the future. 883Hugger 11th March 2005, 21:02 That looks really cool! Nice job. glef 11th March 2005, 21:18 Really like the look of your bike!!! It looks soooooooo cooool !!! I am thinking about getting a WideGlide conversion for my bike as well and was hoping you could help me out with one of my questions..... With an added rake angle of 3 or 4 degrees on the triple trees, is it necessary to install longer tubes ? It seems to me that a rake of 4 degrees would lower the front end just a little over an inch (approx. 30mm). I'm a bit concerned that the bike wouldn't lean properly on the kick-stand any more with the added rake and original tubes...... Any comments/remarks would be greatly appreciated....thanks for your help!! :cheers sleestack 11th March 2005, 22:13 Zingy, that piece goes where the headlight browe goes. In the picture where you are looking at the bike straight on, it is right on top of the headlight. Glef, It's a little tricky to get the fork length right. If you have a custom with stock springs, like I did, using the accutronix trees or similar ones are going to drop the front too much and you will endup scraping the frame on everything. To fix this I installed the progressive spring kit and minimized the sag. The right height is perfect now. If you have a roadster or standard 883 I think the forks are longer or have less sag so you will be ok. Another set of trees you might want to look at is the Hawg Halters (HHI). They are very high quality and have the benifit of built in fork caps. In other words the forks screw into the top triple tree giving you back about an inch or so if ride height. About the kick stand, Right now it sits up straighter than stock but it is far from tipping over. This is on a custom, a standard might give you trouble. Ironhead228 11th March 2005, 22:15 it looks Superb Dude! socal1200c 12th March 2005, 03:43 Looks pretty damn sweet ! txsporty 12th March 2005, 03:55 sleestack Looks Damn Good!!!! :clap :clap :D sleestack 12th March 2005, 03:59 Thanks guys glef 12th March 2005, 07:46 Thanks for the info Sleestack !!! Things are a bit clearer now....If I go for the raked version, I'll look into exchanging the standard tubes with some longer ones..... Once again, thanks for your help !!! :cheers |
