View Full Version : newly purchased xb12r
ONESICKXL1200 21st October 2006, 20:40 here she is. 2004 buell xb12r 1700 miles. black with real flames, jardine pipe (drummer in the works) and K&N filter. looks bad ass, sounds insane. rides beautifully. feels so sure footed. power is there right from idle to the redline. could use a 6th gear (dam harley 5 speeds) but we will work on that later. best of all now i have a reason to wear my bad ass full face helmet i bought for kart racing other then using it for kart racing. theres very few things i want to do to this one. race ecm, asb undertail kit, smaller front turn signals, recover the seats (only problem on the bike is the tear in the passenger pad), new tires since they are almost worn out, different grips, and small little detail things. no need for a tear down on this one like i did to the beast.

Roadster_Rider 21st October 2006, 20:44 Nice lookin bikes, do you mind me asking how much the buell cost you?
CBAS5 21st October 2006, 21:00 Nice find, but one thing that I noticed. You said the bike has 1700 miles on it, but the tire is almost worm out? Doesn't that sound a little strange to you?
merc 21st October 2006, 21:04 wee-oooo
looks mean
It actually looks like is is scowling
05low 21st October 2006, 21:16 Nice lookin bike, but I would have to agree with CBAS5 that it seems a little weird that within only 1700 miles on the bike that it needs new tires.
snowman 21st October 2006, 21:25 The Buell rocks.....
I'd like to know about the sporty rear tire size!!! Looks like a 200+. :wonderlan :wonderlan :wonderlan

says 240 in his sig
And as for the tire, just sounds like someone enjoyed their burnouts. Nothin wrong with that.
xl1200r 21st October 2006, 21:45 Nice lookin' ride.
Hold up on that race ECM. There's a new product out there and you can have a shop make a custom fuel and ignition tune for you using the stock ECM. Obviously cost is a little more, but my buddy had this done to his XB12S with a D&D pipe and dry (yes, dry) K&N with the air intake rubber thingy removed. The bike is a total animal. You can't get near WOT anywhere in 1st without the front wheel coming up HARD.
Also, I don't know how much you're going to like the drummer muffler - I heard one and wasn't too impressed...you might be better off with that Jardine???
jack82 21st October 2006, 22:44 Nice find, but one thing that I noticed. You said the bike has 1700 miles on it, but the tire is almost worm out? Doesn't that sound a little strange to you?
Not really.........Buell's can chew through tires pretty quick when ridden hard.....;)
I get 4,000 kms outa my SV tires ........and it's only a 650...
ONESICKXL1200 21st October 2006, 23:34 yeah i noticed the tire, im the third owner, the second who i bought it from owned it for 600 miles, one year. he had the paint done and the pipe. the first owner had his fun with burnouts, thats why the tires almost bald. i went over it with a fine tooth comb before i bought it, its legit, no damage anywhere. used to be red but the second owner did black with the flames, i scored it for 6 grand which was a steal considering the paint cost him just under 3000 to do. his boat broke the main shaft in the outboard and hes 42. he needed the boat way more then the bike and just wanted to get the boat back together. score for me!
the sporty has a 240 on it
as far as the drummer i may hold off then, i really like how it sounds now, but i know the drummer will give it more power through out the curve. ive heard sound bites of them both online and they sound very similar, online anyways. ill have to see if i can find someone with one locally to check out and see how it sounds

my old bike 92 suzuki bandit 400 would chew through rear tires every 5000miles. ofcourse different compound tire, much softer than sporty which is at 11k miles and just hit wear bars

tell me more about this one. which company is it, ive seen a few of them out there.
xllent01 23rd October 2006, 16:02 That's a sweet looking Buell, :banana been looking for 2nd bike to add also.
i can tear up some twisty's on the sporty but that XB 12R would be sweetly insane on the Dragon's Tail or BRP area. Definatley come back with scuffed or chaffed sidewalls with that thing, no doubt about it.:D :D :D
black-n-blue sporty 23rd October 2006, 16:17 that is one sweet looking bike. actually both your bikes are really nice lookin. I have had an itch to get a firebolt also for the last 6 months, but I think I will end up getting another muscle car to do instead of a second bike. Looks great though.
cjburr 24th October 2006, 00:35 Very nice, great score for the price too !! Buells are the greatest bargain going for a sportbike.
SportsterSpive 24th October 2006, 04:48 Welcome to our hooligan family.
