Does that sound about right? :tour Is this going over chrome? or are the parts brushed aluminum. Chrome parts require alot of heavy sanding for the primer and paint to stick too. The chrome has to be roughed up cause any paint will not stick to smooth chrome pieces. A local bike builder in my area powdercoats over chrome and it looks awesome. :) Turbota 12th March 2005, 00:56 Great Avatar ! cfranz 12th March 2005, 06:09 Avatar lol, thanks no its just the aluminum, not chrome, just wondering what the steps where to prep and paint it. mickes 12th March 2005, 06:20 Light sanding, degreaser, good 2 part epoxy/etching primer then paint. Nu Viking 12th March 2005, 06:54 for people who do want to paint over chrome try acid etching I never had good luck keeping paint on chromed surfaces by sanding and degreasing, acid etching is a little more risky on alumnium. you sould first dilute the acid and have your baking soda and water mixed and do it outside. not even in the garage, outside |
