I bought one of those Pep Boys bike lifts that's been on sale. It's a nice solid lift, but I've encountered a teensy snafu with it. The piece that you hook the handle on to move the jack around is in the way and when I try to put the jack under the bike it hits the jiffy stand mount. I want to remove the freakin piece from the jack, but I can't figure out how to since it's welded on. I don't have a torch or anything like that so what do I do?

A simple hacksaw should work. I have the same lift and understasnd your problem. Let me know how that works out. Guy

Xena,

I have the same jack. Pound that bastard down with a hammer is all you have to do. It will then easily clear the kickstand bracket etc. and will not affect the jack in anyway :)

I don't have a grinder, a sawzall, or a jigsaw but thanks for the ideas. Definitely some more tools Xena needs to add to her collection. I DO have vise grips but I'd have to be King Kong to be able to rip it off with those Mr Jimi. LOL. I think we have a small hacksaw around here somewhere if I can find it. Vetteguy, does the lift work well after chopping off that piece? I hope.

I bought that lift also and my buddy has same lift. His has those brackets on and mine doesn't. I had that same problem when I borrowed his. I was surprised (but Glad)when I got it home and saw the difference.

Samueul thanks, I'll go transform into super xena right now and go give that a try....gives me a good excuse to go drool over the bike anyway. ;)

Samueul you da man! I not only pounded it with a hammer, I smashed the bastard right off. hehe. Clears the jiffy stand just fine now. I always liked the "bf hammer" approach. :D Thanks again.
Redrider you know me all too well. ;)

Xena,

Glad it worked! Sometimes the BFH approach is the best approach.
