I just joined the list (this is my first post after the obligatory introduction post). So be kind...

Anyway, I purchased an 883 back in August (or was it Septemeber? I don't remember), and have been having an absolute blast! I ride to work, but my commute is 7 miles, so most of my riding is nights/weekends on very back roads. I have 2200+ miles on her now. I have been scraping the pegs all over the place (and having fun doing it!!).

I happened to notice today that the bottom of the front muffler was pretty scraped up as well and had even been flattened in one spot (about the size of a half dollar). As I have not dropped the bike yet these are obviously from corning a little too agressively. So my question is, has anyone else with a Low model experienced this yet? Should I just take this as a sign that I really need to slow down a bit?!? (not likely to happen)

Anyway, it's not a big deal, just curious if anyone else has noticed it. Like I said, I've been having a blast. Love the EFI. It's been very smooth. On cold mornings (below 40 deg F), I notice a bit of a stumble when I first take off. But it's really nothing. This is after warming the bike up for 5+ minutes as I get the jacket/chaps/helmet/gloves layered on. It never quits or anything even close, just a slight stumble, once.

And, I have read the posts about upgrading the suspension...I plan on that in the near future...

That comes with the L suspension.

You get used to it.

If you want you can swap for an upswept or smaller exhaust.

Adios

yup, that's part of the price you pay for a shorter bike (my wife needed a Shortster). I've ground the heads of the 2 mounting bolts for the front muffler almost in half.

I have not scraped pegs or mufflers yet, just the stand and the bottom bolts that hold the slipons in place .

...and have scraped the muffler. I got used to it, and I plan on lowering it to the '07 height with a pair of Progressive covered chrome 412's. I have actually had fun with it once I got used to it. When meeting with some folks night or early morning for a PGR event etc... I will roll in slow and tip er over to put on a show!!!:p

Hell I am scrapping the mufflers on my standard model, full preload and weight 175. looking for shocks to lift it another inch. Of course I do love to lay it way over on three sharp banked curves that I ride through every day.
