well my 04 sporty finally sprung a leak, guess this would happen eventually, its starting to leak from the shaft on the gear shifter. looks like a simple seal, do you think the stealer would replace it for free? has around 3,400 miles.

has anyone else noticed on the 04 and proubbly 05, that the top cylinder stabilizer link apparently bakes all of the paint off of it, looks like it gets too hot, applied some touch up paint once, and was burned off in a few days? anyone else know of this??

Try touching up w/high temp engine paint. I use the flat black on my Thunderheader and it sticks just fine.

just came back from dealer, took them about 15 minutes to replace, the service lady asked me why I didnt replace it at the 1000mi service. I told her I did my own service, following the service manual and that it wasent listed. Then I asked her if its a common problem and she said no, so what the hell why replace something that wasent bad and not a common problem?

I tried putting an extra o-ring to determine if that was definitely the problem and it stopped the leak, however when I spoke to a mechanic friend he said not to leave it there as it will put too much pressure on the dust seal, so I went to Harley, picked up all the parts and the job is finished now (the right way). It cost me $48 including the syn. fluid. I replaced every seal gasket and o-ring on the primary. I road about 140 miles yesterday and not so much as a drop came out.
