I really like the looks of the LePera Bare Bones seat. I see that it secures to the forward most hole in the rear fender. When I took my stock solo (05 XL) off the other day to test fit my two-up seat, I noticed what appears to be tape or something all around the solo seat mounting hole. Presumably it's there to protect the fender from rubs I guess.
So my question is, if I get the Le Pera, can I just peel that tape off and WD-40 the adhesive away? Will taking it off cause paint damage? Etc, etc...thanks in advance.

I posted this same question, a while back. The advise I got was to use a hairdryer to heat tape and peel it off. That worked good and didn't lift paint or anything. I had a little glue residue and cleaned it up with WD 40 like you said.

Cool. Thanks Newhog! I thought that might be the case but wanted to hear from those who had gone before. I looked at the threads but just found opinions of the seat and not about that damn tape.
Thanks again.

I didn't use a heat gun, I didn't read this thread at the time, so I just slowly pulled mine off and then I used goo gone and took the residue off. It looks beautiful. You'll really like the look.

I have the LePera Sanora on my 1200r. I left the tape on for the added protection. It doesn't look too bad.
