The Euros are really into this streetfighter thing, and this looks like a good one. Sadly, there are segments of the US market like this as well, but it's almost a badge of honor not to buy a Harley, and Buell gets tainted by association. If it gains acceptance in Europe, however, maybe it will catch on here. At least Harley is showing some foresight. It's not obvious that a younger generation that is being raised on mostly sportbikes is going to want a traditional cruiser when they get older. Many streetfighter or even the sport touring designs are comfortable to ride and have that added performance that will be attractive to those raised on sportbikes.

I'm really leaning towards getting a Buell soon, but this bike does nothing for me like the others do. I prefer the XB12Scg(low, for the inseam challenged)...or the XB12Ss(long, for less of a chance of pulling the front wheel accidentally)

DDFI = Down Draft Fuel Injection. Probably the same unit on the XR concept.

It's the Super Motard thing. KTM, Ducati, Suzuki even has one now, a 400. Seems to be getting more popular. I've seen a good many SM's on the twisties like Deal's Gap.

I don't think so. The DDFI II is the system they use on the XB Buells, so, no changes just for this model. I don't think we know what will be on the XR1200 yet, do we?

As an aside, did anyone notice the EPA estimated MPG:


Urban: 48 MPG
Highway: 65 MPG
Same as the other XB12 models. I guess I never paid attention. 103 HP at the crank and an estimated fuel economy on the highway of 65 MPG? Wow.

All that and it is 2010 EPA compliant without a cat. And, heaven forbid, not very loud.
