View Full Version : Disappearing Posts

I've had about a half dozen posts disappear over the last couple weeks.

At first I thought maybe I was clicking on cancel or something instead of post, but the last couple of posts, I went slow and made sure I was doing it right - some of the posts posted, some went into the abyss.

None of the missing posts contained any type of vulgarity or anything that would make them candidates for deletion, they were all on topic, all replies to existing threads, they've just disappeared!

Any insight into the problem would be appreciated!

Hmm, i don't know, if your lagging a lot(ex. running a torrent program) or the server is under very high stress then it could have just timed out...

No, no lag, in fact the posts have been made from two different computers, one at home with dsl, one at work with T1. And for the most part I'm here at night, well night for Eastern US, anyway.

HI.
Go into you user cp and do a search on yourself for all post you started.

Sometimes the subject material warrants it being moved to another forum.

Nope, that was the way I verified they were gone.

Most of the missing posts are *replies* to existing threads, it wouldn't make sense to move single replies in a thread to another forum!

If you happen to know the thread that one of the missing messages was in then I can look into it for you and see if something odd happened. Just to clarify, did you actually see the message that you posted or did you hit submit and then the message went away somehow?
Thanks!

I noticed a post I had linked to a while back was gone yesterday. So, maybe there's something random going on that would not be getting logged. I don't think anything is being moved on purpose. If I run across another, I will post it.

Here is the thread I posted in:
http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?t=36653

Here is the missing link (look at the text of reply #5):
http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?t=37959

It's not my post that's missing, but the one I linked to. Where did that one go?

I think Bert's upgrading software, so there's bound to be glitches here and there for a while (or permanently, as in the gallery :laugh)

Just don't say anything that any moderator doesn't agree with. As long as you think about them before you post you should be fine.

If mods delete posts I can see that they have been deleted. So far I have not seen any.
