2004 XL1200R

The bike has been sitting in storage for about 2 weeks. I took it out today (just to change a few things and lube the cylidners as I forgot to before) and notice something strange. The left turnsignal was all funky. Sometimes it would work, and sometimes not. It was like the switch would intermintently work. Sometimes the left signal would flash as soon as I turn the ignition on and I could not shut it off. Other times if I pressed the right signal it would go into hazzard mode. Other times it would flash once or twice on it's own. Any thoughts?

Did you do anything that required opening up the front headlight? In my 93, all of the turn signal relays in in the front headlight and I've had plenty of problems with it. When you push the headlight back into the socket you need to watch all of the wiring to make sure that you don't pull something out by accident.

You said it was in storage. Check all wiring to see if any chew marks are noted. Mice love to chew on wire coating because it has a salt flavor. Squirrels also will do this. As you check wiring, check contacts, because ants can get into them and cause random shorts, as can roaches and other bugs. I speak from experience here in Texas.:boohoo

The bike was only put away for 2 weeks at this point. And I hadn't taken anything apart with headlight.
