View Full Version : New XL50 Owner and Member
optaylor 20th November 2006, 06:09 After a life in the dirt I have made the change. I am the proud owner of an XL50. What a great bike. I was a bit concerned about the whole Sportster stigma but had never been on one. I must say that those who don't have an XL have no idea or room to talk. I am looking forward to the knowledge and experience I will gain her. Most of all I am looking forward to meeting other owners.

The 50th Anniversary Sportster® model is a testament to staying power. Stuffed to the cylinders with 1200cc of tar-tearing V-Twin. A serialized handlebar clamp solidifies its collectible status. The classic tank - a Sportster® hallmark since 1958 - beams with a podium-topping gold badge. Moving back, the gold thread embroidered seat sports its name and birth year. The air clearner and timer cover insert are also highlighted with a matching hint of gold. A low rear suspension and tall front suspension create a raked-out, spitfire look. Limited to just 2,000 individually numbered gems. Raise a cloud of dust to the next 50 years.

Gyahmers 20th November 2006, 19:48 Welcome to the forum. Btw, which production number bike did you get?
Ghugly 20th November 2006, 19:52 Welcome from central California.
optaylor 20th November 2006, 20:47 I got #1368. It is the Black adn gold version. I have been very pleased with the bike so far. It is a great bridge between a sport bike and a crusier. The thing turns on a dime and still is comfy for the long haul. I am 6' tall and the only thing I have done for the ergo's is to go to forward controls. I may look at a riser for the bats but not a large one.

Merritt 4th December 2006, 15:21 I wonder how many are in Louisiana. I am in DeRidder. I didn't realize how much chrome we had on our XL50's until I started polishing it. Hope it turns a little warmer this week so we can ride.
Grizzly 4th December 2006, 16:11 Congrats on the new Sporty.:tour
I have an 03 1200C.....you know, the 100th ann. black and silver ones that you hardly ever see...:doh I was glad to see they serialized and limited the XL50. You will never lose the smile on a Sporty. I have a BT as well, and for longer rides, or two up...its nicer. But luckily I was able to keep the Sporty as well. The only word tyo describe it is....FUN!
Enjoy!
Ranger Bob 3rd March 2007, 12:53 Welcome from NY. Cool scoot !!! I'd keep all original parts after any mods so it can always be returned to original.
Have fun & ride safe.
