I took my bike in for the last service under the service plan last week - 10,000 mi. and also asked them to check the ICM, which they did and repaired.
I told the service writer that they needed to look at the SE Hi-Flo filter, because it had holes in it and that this Sportster site had several members that have had problems with this filter.
Well, my Dealer says " Really, we have not heard of anyone else having this problem, We can't warranty the filter" They want to know if I would like to purchase one since they agree the filter needs to be replaced.
I tell him NO, i'll call the MoCo and see if I get anywhere there. I talked to Lisa in Customer Service, she makes a few calls and calls me back and tells me that they will replace the filter ONE time.
Guess this is better than nothing, hopefully more people will complain so they realize this product is junk and go back to K & N,or make a better filter

I suppose one replacement is better than nothing. Hopefully they will get the hint and fix their problem.

The dealer I went to told me that they will replace the filter everytime I bring one back in with holes in it until HD remedy's the situation.

I don't think I'd call that stepping up but I am glad they forked over a new one. Seems to me that they would do something about this. I talked to the parts people at my local dealer and they didn't seem to know anything about it. In fact I was told the replacement filter was a K&N... I guess we'll see what happens if/when the one on there takes a dump.
How long are the filters lasting before falling apart? Is your bike carb farting alot to blow it out?

I had less than 4000 miles on my SE AC. The carb farting got better after the rejet but started to get worse again with the colder weather riding (low 20's to low 40 degrees).
I plan to bring the bike in to have it dyno tuned once the snow melts and the temps rise a bit.

Presently K&N Filters does not make a SE replacement filter for rubber mount Sportsters. However K&N does take requests for new products.
Here is the link: www.knfilterchargers.com/products_needed/
Please request K&N to make us a quality filter to replace the junky SE filter.
Can someone smarter than me fix this link to click on and connect ?

Click and Connect worked after I sent reply. Sorry
S.C. Your Dealer is better than mine. It was H D cutomer service that said they would replace SE filter one time. Doesn't really fix the problem.
Hopefully a lot of people will contact K&N and they will fix H D's problem
I don't have alot of faith in the MoCo to do it.

Actually I first called HD Cust Svce and got a file number. They instructed me to go to the dealer so the AC could be inspected.

I think HD should continue to replace the filter until they find a solution. You might want to look into getting a HurricaneFlow AC from Nallins. www.nrhs.com

Burt, I agree with you H D should continue to replace the filter untill they find a solution. But i don't think that is going to happen.
I have checked out the HurricaneFlow filter and i like it ! but I hate to just p*ss away the $110.00 for the the SE kit.
Since I don't have faith in H D, i'm hoping K&N or someone else will produce a quality repacement filter. it would be alot cheaper than replacing the whole kit.
Besides, been trying to save some bucks to spend with Progressive shocks on the front and back.
