Uncledaddy 27th November 2006, 15:24 Control Panel to Internet Options to Advanced to Show Pictures
Make sure the "show pictures" box is checked
merc 27th November 2006, 15:51 it is checked-
here is what a typical screen looks like.

Clarinetcat 27th November 2006, 16:12 There have been brief periods every once in a great while when I am not able to view pictures at all, whether in the gallery, the posts themselves, or even avatars.
I assume it might have something to do with occasional server maintenance or resetting...
Unfortunately, I have no way to conform this.
vpats 27th November 2006, 16:40 XXWhat little Red X'sI don't see no stinkin little red XXs!!
Uncledaddy 27th November 2006, 17:10 Does it only happen on this site?
fafcpa 27th November 2006, 21:06 I think he means the x's in the boxes where there would be a picture in the example above.
merc 27th November 2006, 21:40 no it happens on other sites as well.
the weird part is that not all the pics are x'd out.
Look at the pic I posted ealier.
Some avatars show and some not.
Moker 27th November 2006, 22:14 dear merc.
i downloaded and installed IE7, and personally hate it.
previously i "hated" firefox fanboy's. they'd spew their BS propoganda about M$ this, and M$ that.
well, i tried FF2, and let me tell you, i absolutely love it.
i highly recommend you giving it a shot.
other than that, try clearing all your cache and cookies to see if that will help.
merc 28th November 2006, 15:42 nice job MOker-thanks

relayer4u 29th November 2006, 02:56 You can also make life easier with Internet Exploder by doing this:
Click on "Tools"
Click on "Advanced" tab
Scroll down and make sure "Empty Temporary Internet Files Folder when browser is closed" is checked.
;)
Rob Henderson 29th November 2006, 03:03 IE7 BITES. Sorry the is not politically correct. It nibbles around the edges...A LOT......
I tried it and it is excrutiatingly awful.
:censor :censor :censor :censor
sfxtech 29th November 2006, 19:18 MS BITES period... no need to apologize for not being politically correct. I personally am starting to hate MS more and more every day. I am just waiting for the right price, (and big enough buffer in the bank account) to get myself a MAC. I will have to keep one PC around though for certain applications that are PC based, but hopefully within the next couple months I will have some type of MAC as my primary computer.
Moker 29th November 2006, 21:49 no one's forcing you to use their software.
there are plenty of other OS's out there that will run on your computer.
ubuntu, kubuntu, linux to name just a few.
if you hate them that much, what's stopping you from installing an alternate OS? beside the fact that hardly anything is written for linux or mac os's that is, and you'll have to learn a new OS and all the crap that goes with it.
the grass is always greener on the other side.

Hey the new Intel Macs aren't that expensive. The Mini starts at 599 and the Imac at 999. The great thing is that you can run both OSX and Windoze natively. Switching between the two boots is just a matter of pressing a button.
Rob Henderson 30th November 2006, 02:11 I did not say that MS OS bites......Besides the fact that the BSD pops up from time to time or the need to reboot after loading a new program.....I was saying that I tried Internet Explorer 7 and I really really really really hated it... It was hard to navigate and in general it sucked...
jweitzel 30th November 2006, 02:22 Try firefox...www.mozilla.com

I have tried ubuntu, I liked it, it was very fast but I couldn't get a bunch of things to work with it (network cards, video cards.....etc....)

trust me... I know... I am really considering a MacMini, but there isn't much (any) room for upgrading it, same with the Imac...
rob@robertsystems.com 30th November 2006, 20:50 Actually, having already done surgery on my Macmini, you can do quite a lot. Just crack it open and its pretty much like anything else. I went from 256 to 1 meg and connected it to my XP gigabit net at home and it did just fine.
sfxtech 1st December 2006, 01:26 well I know you can upgrade memory and such, but there isn't much room for more firewire/USB/etc.... or is there? I have never opened one to know. It just looks like there isn't much room for expansion.
milmat1 1st December 2006, 01:43 How did you get the images to show ? Mine will have a box with the dreaded Red X in some postings, While others will be visible..
Have been through all the normal IE settings etc. Even modified the Norton settings as directed,, Still many images will not show up..

I have a mini and was lamenting the lack of ports, then I found this:
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=199941
1 FW 1 USB in the front, 3 USB, 1 FW in the back. Same footprint as the mini so you just stack it on top or underneath. Now I'm set, and the whole thing takes up very little space on my desktop.

oh boy... my wife is going to be pissed at you..... I knew I could get a hub, I didn't want a bunch of hubs, and crap plugged in all over the place. This looks like a nice solution.... hmmm.... I am starting a second job soon, maybe I will have enough $$ sooner than later
