i am thinking about trying to swap a polished buell lightining rear wheel on to my 1200 custom. i want to do this so i can put a lower profile, wider rear tire on. if anyone has any info as to this being a problem i would be thankful for input. :smoke

flstfatboy15...What size is the rear wheel that you want to put on your 1200? I have a 99 1200C that I've been wanting to put a 18" wheel on the rear. I'm also interested in if the lighting rear wheel will work.

what year is ur bike? the new ones, '04+, can MAYBE squeeze a 160 on the back, the older ones, 140 at the most, unless its a chain drive, then a 150... just look at the space between the tire and belt... that should give u an idea... the Buell wheels were either a 17 x 5" or a 5.5" if it was the PM wheel, with a 170/60x17...

my sporty is a 2003 and i already went to a wider tire, but it made the ride height taller. i have installed a set of struts to make it rigid and tha got the height wahy down from stock. i also swapped for a badlander 883 seat. the bike is rigid and bare bones. now i just want to put a little wider wheel and a lower profile tire on it to get as low as possible. it has rapidly become a barhopper as i have recently purchased an all black 15 anniv fatboy. when i had the stock tire on it before the seat height was 3 inches below stock. i also bit the bullet and bought the black and silver bob ail fender. when i get my cam working again i will post pics.

Hi.

So, you traded FOR that BadLander seat?(It's more like Bad Landing! :yikes )

I had one up until I rode 200 miles on it, that was all I wanted of it.

As to your tire, I would measure the tire you have and then measure the tire you want. Do keep in the mind that you will need to keep enoughm room for tire flex side to side.

You could also ask down at the Harley dealer, the service guys may know.

so u had a 130/90x16 stock, what did u go up to? how well did it fit in the fender and by the belt?? if u want something shorter, u could try a 140/70x17 on a 3.5" rim, or maybe even a 150/60x17 on a 4" rim, but dunno if that would fit...
