Drove down to Coos Bay, Oregon, Highway 101 H-D, yesterday and picked up my 1200R. The entire staff were pleasant and helpful - just as they were through the entire ordering process which was all via e-mail and telecon. Pulled the bike off my truck this afternoon. This evening I was able to get it out and do some around town break-in for about an hour (45 deg. F). Runs like a top. It will take some getting used to with the pegs so far forward and the tall handlebar (compared to sport bikes), but it just feels good to ride it so far. Not as smooth and tractable as the four-cylinder bikes under 2,000 rpm, but once that point is cleared, the rush of torque brings about deceptive speed - the speedometer seemingly rising at a rate faster than the tachometer - a very different perspective on acceleration. For the people out there who can't seem to get straight answers on how much to pay for a Sportster, due to price gouging and other shylock add-on tricks - I shelled out $9,280 with the basic security system installed - OTD. Cast wheels and vivid black. Highway 101 also discounted a couple off accessories at 15% off, which I purchased separately. Back here in Wa., I had to fork over $897 for our sale's tax and license. I mention this since I see so many people getting scammed by their local "H-D stealers" for hundreds in extra fees or inflated "limited quantity" MSRP's - the reason I went out of state.
