View Full Version : Illinois million $ gun insurance policy- BILL
flameryder

The State of Illinois has a bill proposed that would require all gun owners to buy a million dollar insurance policy. It would be a felony to own a gun without the insurance should it pass. No-one would be able to afford the insurance unless they are rich. And, it's said that there is no insurance company that is willing to offer such a policy. Therefore, they want to require the insurance, knowing you can't purchase it, in order to prevent gun ownership. I'm not joking, this was let known on the Glenn Beck Show on Fox News tonight.

As a gun-toting liberal, I think this idea is :censoring outrageous. More info here (http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/fulltext.asp?DocName=&SessionId=76&GA=96&DocTypeId=HB&DocNum=687&GAID=10&LegID=41158&SpecSess=&Session=) for the full text of the bill.

Can they do that? That's insane. So what happens when know one can afford the insurance? When no insurance company wants to take this on? I didn't read the whole thing but is this going to be for each weapon? I love my TX.

Then one would be SOL. The SP will take a persons permit if they do not show proof of insurance. Once your permit is gone the firearms are illegal and the owner a criminal.
This is some truly f:censord up sh:censort

"my gun has killed less people than Ted Kennedy's car"
Ever heard this one?
Well as good gun owners you should know that there are more deaths in the USA from cars every year than guns.
Cigarettes, cars, crap I can't think of the whole list right now.
So how about doing something with this first?

Check out Illinois General Assembly Bill HB0687.
The point I was attempting to make was that if you want to be taken seriously, Glenn Beck is not the person to use as a source. In just the last few weeks he has been proven wrong on many items that he has stated as fact. It's always better to try to use an objective source. Even O'Reilly would be a better source. Beck is more in line with Hannity, their both pretty much right wing shills and their info should always be double checked.

I strongly recommend that you find out who sponsored this bill, tell everyone in Illinois what an idiot he is and make sure that he/she is unable to win an elected office in your State again.

Glenn's source for the HB0687 Bill was his guest, the Chief Counsel for the NRA. Is that source good enough?

Regardless of Beck's reputation, these Illinions lawmakers are paving the highway to hell! If they keep at this crap long enough, some of it sticks, and the voting public is apathetic enough to allow it all, while we're not looking! Here in Cali, the legislature has been burning every penny they can steal from us for so long, and with so many mandatory future expenditures, that now we're getting all of our taxes raised, and getting jacked, just so they can keep up the drunken spending spree! meanwhile, I get exactly NO more services from any government agency than I did when I was a small child! Where are they spending this money, and why is it so desperately needed?

As they say, "as California goes, so doe the rest of the country."
The rest of the country is soon to be in the same situation as California with the stimulus package, not suprisingly written mainly by a Californian (Pelosi) and a Wisconsinite (Obey). (Our state is deep debt too, much to do with Gov Doyle's spending like a drunken sailor.) The demonrats have complete control over our state right now and are working on massive tax and fee increases.

Guys I'm not sure that those guys down there are really taking to each other.
Earlier this week they announced that they are moving forward with a "concealed carry law". I've attached a news relaes from a Sprinffield, Il newspaper. Do they really think that if they allow concealed carry in the state that people would think the insurance deal would be ok?
Illinois panel OK's concealed-carry gun law
Kari Andren
POST-DISPATCH SPRINGFIELD BUREAU
Wednesday, Feb. 18 2009
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - An Illinois House panel overwhelmingly approved legislation
Wednesday that would allow residents to carry concealed handguns or other
weapons in public.
Illinois and Wisconsin are the only two states in the country that do not allow
concealed carry.
The House Agriculture and Conservation Committee advanced two versions of the
legislation by an 11-1 vote. One version would require the Illinois State
Police to issue the concealed carry permits; the other would task county
sherrifs with issuing permits.
Both bills would require permit applicants to be "law-abiding citizens" and to
complete a training course in handgun use, safety, marksmanship and laws
pertaining to firearm use.
"It's high time Illinois join the overwhelming majority" of states that allow
concealed carry, said Todd Vandermyde, legislative liaison for the National
Rifle Association. "Forty-eight other states can't be wrong."
Vandermyde said carrying a handgun is critical for self-defense.
"If I don't have the ability to have a firearm on my side, I don't have a
fighting chance," he said.
Opponents, however, said more access to guns creates only more risk of death
and injury and that concealed weapons do not lower crime rates.
Chris Boyster, downstate director for the Illinois Council Against Handgun
Violence, said that Missouri is a concealed carry state but that crime rates in
St. Louis have worsened since the law went into effect.
"Crime has not gone down in the city of St. Louis; in fact, it continues to
increase," Boyster said. "Concealed carry did not deter crime rates to go down.
... In fact, one year, I believe (St. Louis) was ranked as the murder capitol
of the United States."

Illinois, California, are they still part of the United States?:doh
There are so many Stupid Proposals for Gun Laws. Putting the firearm industry out of business would send our economy into the toilet. How many people in the U.S. are going to be collecting unemployment if these laws pass? Too many to comprehend when you consider everyone involved in the sport . Very Stupid Politics.
Senate, House - Seat: Required IQ- Over 40? Liberals are the exception.

Politicians are not stupid, the American people are stupid. All measures and every action to control guns and ownership is a deliberate attempt to weaken and eventually destroy the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. There is nothing stupid about politics, everything political is well planned and intentional, it's called an AGENDA. It has to be done a step at a time, in time. The present "CRISIS" with the economy didn't just happen overnight, it took years of planning. It's so easy for the controlled media and our politicians to make the public believe everyone involved was greedy, irresponsible, even insane to allow this to happen. Yea, you'd have to be some kind of real nut to believe it's ALL intentional, an AGENDA. Unless you live in a cave and never hear or read any news, you have to have heard many times mention of A NEW WORLD ORDER, ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT, GLOBAL AGENDA. Our government allowed this to happen. The foot is in the door. Wake up America. Start listening. The American People vote, because they vote they get the government they deserve, and, deserve what they get.

Honestly I don't think this bill will have a chance in Illinois to survive, too many proponents will step up against this bill. Then you have the NRA that will definitely have their voice heard on this matter on the insurance bit! It's an outrage that our own damn government feels they need to protect us when it's the government causing more and more of the problems we are faced with today. I'd rather see the conceal and carry bill go through as law and give law abidding citizens a chance to defend themselves in an incident. We as the US Citizens NEED TO TAKE BACK THE POWER GOVERNMENT HAS GIVEN ITSELF!!!!

I just hope the revolution comes quick enough that I can both appreciate and participate in it, before I'm too old. I honestly believe our present government is more oppressive than the Brits were when we first revolted.
The electorate has no clue what it is voting for! Here, we elected Arnie, to combat the corruption. He tried, and found the state legislature too far gone, so he tried a referendum, and let the voters decide for themselves. We shot down every one of his proposals! I believe that now he's giving us what we told him we want!

Think of the crap we are going through now in Illinois with the impeachment of Rod Blagojevich from the Governor's Office!! He was ELECTED because he stated time and time again that he would clean up here in Illinois and remove corruption in Government in this state, but when you look at the shit he pulled with the Illinois Congress and his OWN AGENDA! He wasn't about cleaning up things but trying to make his life better at the EXPENSE of the TAXPAYERS in Illinois!!! There are way too many CORRUPT POLITICIANS in office and they NEED TO BE GIVEN THEIR PINK SLIP NOW!!!

I feel you! Our states are neck and neck in the race to re-create the former Soviet Union! Now that the economy is slumped, I'm sending more money to the government than I'm keeping! I just got a bill from the fire dept. for $1000.00 for "haz-mat generator" fee, apparently because I change oil? I have a seperate oil liscense, and I pay hundreds to have waste oil picked up, but they always find a way to jack me out of even more. They call it my "fair share" My share is 10 seperate liscenses, all with fees, and many more fees, which are not associated with liscenses, and my shop's taxes, and my personal taxes, and sales tax, consumption taxes, sin taxes, registration fees, etc. All of these just got raised, and are now at the top of the list of the highest in the nation. In exchange I get: more harassment, the "priviledge" to use the streets, and nothing else! I own my business, so no saftey net for me. No unemployment, or workers comp. Nothing. My "share" has increased dramaticlly, yet my benefits from it are less than when I was a small child! Yet every election, someone keeps clicking (D) or (R), instead of (L) and I get jacked! Thanks, whomever you are.

I know what you're going through and what you say is true. I owned three businesses in California before I retired. I chose to retire early and get by on less simply because I refused to be there any longer and pay them their blood money and be restricted from the freedoms available elsewhere. CRIME DOESN'T PAY AS WELL AS POLITICS!!!!!

I really think the sh!t is going to hit the fan pretty quick- nationwide. The opposition to Obama and the Democratic party already know of the downward spiral we are about to head down. There are a lot of really pissed off people in this country right now, and the liberals are even just starting to figure out that they have been had. They got everything that they ever wanted, but are starting to realize that they too are going to be paying for it. I too would love to have filet mignon and lobster for 3 meals a day , every day- until I realize the cost.
I think there has been a long term plan to put our country in the position that its in now, the only place where .gov screwed up is that they didn't disarm everyone first. At least we have a little hope.

I'm sure that by the time four years are up people will look back and see the distruction our governement did to the whole country. Where was it smart to conceive this STUPID STIMULUS PLAN? Some Congressmen have stated it would've been best to leave things alone and let it all iron itself out and the economy would recover on it's own over time. The Democrats are running around smiling and claiming a VICTORY with this SO CALLED STIMULUS!!! Can anyone see how BLIND and DUMB they truly are to the CONCERNS of the PUBLIC!!! The whole point of their plan is MORE GOVERNMENT CONTROL and MORE TAXATION!!! Who the hell is fronting this money in the stimulus plan, us the damn taxpayers will! What's gonna happen in this country is gonna upset and enrage more and more of the public as this plays out. I'll just say it simply, there will be MORE UNEMPLOYMENT and MORE COMPANY CLOSINGS in the next year or two. One large company, GENERAL MOTORS, will be shuttering FIVE plants and 45,000 employees will be laid off!!!! Now how many OTHER companies will this effect? How about many more, so don't be surprized to see DOUBE DIGIT unemployment before too long. And this whole bit about BAILING OUT the banks that caused the start of all this is BULL, those banks SHOULD'VE FAILED and CLOSED! We shouldn't be footing their MISTAKES and allow them to still do business!

You are right on the money, (pun intended) the whole point of their plan is MORE GOVERNMENT CONTROL. There are NO MISTAKES IN POLITICS, our economic situation was well planned, intentional. The government will, in the near future, OWN and CONTROL ALL PROPERTY (real estate) BANKS and CORPORATIONS. We've heard it talked about for the very first time this week, were you listening? It's called NATIONALIZING! Our government is talking about NATIONALIZING ALL OF THE BANKS. Be assured that when they talk about it, they will eventually do it.You cannot get more SOCIALISTIC than this, capitalism and democracy will soon be a thing of the past. This must be accomplished for AMERICA to become a part of the ONE WORLD ORDER we all hear so much about so innocently by the media. It is TOO LATE to stop the train, it's moving too fast and it's too powerful. Think of it like boiling a frog. If you drop the frog in boiling water, it will instantly jump out. Instead, you place the frog in lukewarm water, very comfortable. Now slowly warm the water a little more, then a little more until the frog falls asleep. Next, turn the heat to boil. That's the way it is,and it's too late to escape. Lastly, food for thought.....people have always thought that if they pay off their home mortgage, that they now own their home and it can't be taken from them. Think again, because if you neglect to pay your property TAXES, the GOVERNMENT will take your home, regardless that you hold the title deed. :frownthre

It figures, he's from Cook County.
Unfortunately I am not an Illinois resident so I can't vote against this idiot.Chances are he knows the bill probably won't pass so he's picking up a few votes and bucks from the anti-gun lobby. He probably figures the gun owners will forget by the next election. I recomend that anyone from Chicago vote this guy out of office.
