Hello. I'm introducing myself again because now I officially have a sportster instead of just dreaming about it.
I brought my 07 883 custom home tonight. It's suede blue pearl and black. It's the first Harley I have owned. (Can you see the happy dance I'm doing?):banana

Looking forward to learning a lot here.

Congrats! And learn alot you will!
This is my first Harley too....learning that they can be an unruly beast at times but worth it.
They are the definition of plain old down and dirty motorcycles for me.
My Yamaha was much lower maintenance but nowhere near as much fun to ride!
Enjoy!

I don't about a yamaha being lower maintenance than the evo sportsters. My last yamaha a 2001 the valves had to be set at the shop every 7,500 miles, on the other hand a evo sportser has self- adjusting valves. Once i set up my '05 sportster up with a 2into1 header and free flowing a/c and rejetted the carb i have'nt touch mine in 20,000 miles. Pretty simple motor and easy to pile the miles on with only simple maintenance like oil, filter changes. Welcome and enjoy your new bike!:tour

Thanks for the advice about the photo.
That is a Sundowner seat. Seems pretty comfy so far, but I haven't had a chance to really give it a good test yet.

Don't know if I am in the right place but since most of the posts are from owners of 1200 or 883's I figured I'd ask any how. I am planning to buy a '07 1200L at the dealer this weekend. I was wondering if anyone who has bought a Sporty recently regrets it and wishes they'd bought a bigger bike?

you can buy what ever bike you want ,but you will not find a better bike that you can do so much with,or so much on!they are quick and dependable, plus they really hold their value!

I am satisfied right now with the 883. I have only been riding about 2 years. I don't think I need anything any bigger, at least right now, or maybe never. This one has enough power without being too heavy for the roads around here. Other ladies here in the area say that they can go anywhere on their 883's that the big bikes go with no problem.
Guess it all depends on what kind of riding you are planning to do.
