Anybody in Japan? I've ridden near Yokosuka and Misawa. If you are looking for any great ride ideas I will try to help.

A bunch of our workers are being forced to Japan in February for about 5 months. But, they won't get to bring their machines.

I've been to Misawa every year for the past 10 years for my annual AT.
Just retired from Navy Reserves this past Oct, so that's one place I'll never see again. No more Oirase Gorge, Lake Towada, Hachinoe, Aomori. No more trying to figure out how to get unlost because all the road signs are written in Kanji. No more driving on the left side of the road in Japan and then coming back to the states and trying to drive on the left side here too. No more trying to figure out how many yen to the dollar. No more MacDonald's with soy sauce. No more 600yen for a beer, but unfortunately no more 2400yen Cuban cigars either. No more Irish Pub right out side the main gate, the Viking restaurant or cheesy noodles.
After having written all this, I guess I'll probably miss it a little. On the other hand, Nah. The flight over and back is a killer.

I haven't had too much trouble getting lost up here. When I was in Yokosuka I was lost a few times. What about the cheese rolls?

I'm planning on going to Hachinoe tomorrow, and will be stopping at the HD dealer.

There's a big shopping mall in Hachinoe that's worth going to while your there. Couldn't tell you how to find it, but someone on the base should be able to tell you how to get to it. I have a couple of T's from the HD dealership in Hachinoe. Check out the inflated prices on the bikes they have, unbelieveable. You can order a Harley at the exchange for a reasonable amount of money if your on orders that are for at least 30 days. How much snow do you have there?

We currently have about 0 inches of snow. So far there hasn't been very much this year. We also just had a few days of hard rain that melted all the snow that was here.:frownone

Well I was there from about JAN94 to about AUG05. My wife has family up in Akita-Ken. Sure would like to go back after I retirre from Uncle Sam's Canoe Club, but it ain't in the cards just yet. I learned to ride over there and hooked up w/ a few guys in the Gaijin Ridere, most of them ride sport bikes though. They affoded me the opportunity to go through a rider training course sponsored by Honda. They even provided the bikes! Good Luck and enjoy your stay!
