When I got my XL50 it was missing one of the front motor mount bolts.. I took it back to the dealer the next day and they replaced it.. I was just wondering if anyone else has had any issues like this.. whats the possibility of it being left out at the factory or "borrowed" for another bike in the dealer shop?

Harley has pretty tight factory QA, so I'd say it is very rare - but that is the mostly likely place it occurred. It would be really odd for the dealership to borrow it for an emergency repair without ordering a new one the same day and tagging the bike.

The quality control at the factory seems very high...I have been through the factory several times and know some of the people who work there. Very high standards. Sorry for the problem and glad that it worked out OK without having to go through weeks of frustration trying to diagnose your vibration (or worse...thinking "they're all that way.")

Seems like the selling 'stealer' would have noticed this. A few other members have found the bolts working themselves out. Incorrect torque.

I sure hope you did not have to pay the stealer for any prep or set up fees 74cixl

I don't think it had time to work itself out.. only had about 30 miles or so on it when I noticed it was missing.. I did not have to pay anything when they replaced it.. I would have had a SH*T fit if they would have tried to charge me!!

I don't know about the outstanding QA at the Kansas city sportie plant. My '07 had 3 fasteners missing from the left sidecase and nicked paint on the fender and underside of my tank. The Edmond,OK HD shop ordered and recieved a new fender and tank I just need to bring my bike in.A friend of mine noticed the missing screws. The paper tag said my bike was made on Friday. They must of been ready to get out of there for the weekend. As long as my dealer makes it right I'm not too sore now after all it runs great.:D

There is NO EXCUSE for this other than a piss poor assembly AND prep.

End of story in my humble(?) opinion.

There's definitely no excuse for the fact that it was missing in the first place, but i believe it is also the rider's responsibility to look over their machine after taking delivery to check for these kinds of errors, good job on finding it. This is probably a one in a thousand shot, but the fact is, stuff occasionally gets missed from the factory and everyone makes mistakes, both the factory QC and the dealer prepping it should have caught it, but at least the dealer didn't question anything and fixed it right away.

Beside the missing bolt, i discovered some wires pinched between the downtube and the voltage regulator.. I read the post about the recall on the regulator and fender clearance and started looking at mine and noticed the wires.. I went to the local dealership where they have another XL50 and the wires are routed differently.. anyone else have wires between the dountube and regulator??? I would post a link to the pics of what i'm talking about but it seems i havent posted enough times yet..
