Finally got my spoke wheels put on 04 883 Sporty. I powdercoated the rim of the wheels red and put white walls on. It looks pretty damn good now. If anyone can help with posting pic I would get a pic on here so everyone can see.

Here is a pic of my bike if it worked. Still got to get the 12 inch apes on it and the red grips, but pretty much done for right now.

It will look a lot better when I get my new bars on it. The powder coat only cost me $65 from a local powder coater here in town.

Hell I might not have to wait if I can get it done for under $100!!

Looks like I may have to look around tomorrow for a local shop!

You know I read the topic and didn't think I would like what I saw. But...that looks pretty damn good. :)

Had to have the wheels laced again after the powder coating was done. Luckily have a friend that knows how to lace wheels so didn't cost me anything. If your rims are pretty clean and don't need much blasting it shouldn't cost much to get them done.

Looks damn good. I am wanting to do the same to mine but I have the solid rear wheel on a Custom. Trying to figure out if I want to somehow powder the solid wheel or pick up a spoked. What tires you end up buying.

The front tire is an Avon venom and the rear is a Dunlop. They didn't sell Avon rear tires then, but they might now.

Also what Wheels / Rims are those? where ya get them & how much ? I cant find wire wheels that are made for 04 XL all seem to stop at 03

Lickscycles has them Already done but are like $1500 a pair ( a little outta my price range) I'd even be willing to buy them as parts Rim, Hub, Spokes & build them my self so any help / suggestions would be great!

Scarecrow,

The wheels are both Harley. The front is just a standard 21" sporty wheel and the back is for a 2000 or later dyna. I just bought the back for around $300 and traded a guy for the front. He wanted my old 19" mag. We tore them down and had them powdercoated and got a friend that laced and tured them. There are other wheels but Harley seemed to be the cheapest. Drag specialties had one for like $500 and jireh had one for $200 but they were suppose the have them 2 1/2 months ago. I wasn't waiting that long. Hope this helps a little.

so the rear Dyna 16" will fit an 04 XL ? if so then I think I may have to search ebay :)

Yes and I was told it had to be 2000 or later.

Last weekend I saw and '05 sporty with rear spoke wheel. And that's what my stealer has in stock on all his "05 1200C's.

Looks great! I love the classic "hot rod" look of red rims and white walls. And it is an awesome blend of the old and the new.

I like that the air cleaner & pipes match the overall 50's hot rod theme as well. Nice job.

Last weekend I saw and '05 sporty with rear spoke wheel. And that's what my stealer has in stock on all his "05 1200C's.

The 2005 sporties have a different size axle than the 2004's. And the 2005's had a spoke wheel option and the 2004's didn't. Would have saved me some money if they offered a spoke wheel option for the 2004.

I can't wait to get the my new handle bars on it. Will make it look even better. After that I will think about getting the sportster decal off the tank. Just want to tank black.
