I broke my second belt and am switching to a chain conversion.
I have:
530 RK GB XSO 120 link chain
51 tooth Vortex Rear Sprocket
I need:
Front 23 tooth Sprocket (Probably PBI)
I need to know what offset I need to get.
Dennis Kirk has these but tell me they won't fit, I know one will.
Also need an Idler Sprocket or roller, whichever is fine.
I haven't been able to locate a supplier that would part out seperatly without selling whole kit. FreeSpirits, Sporttwin, Baker Drivetrain, Dennis Kirk, Cycle Gear and More are not helping so please don't oofer them to me.
I have not ridden now for over three months!!1
If you have info that I can use (Website, Part number and Price) or if you have done a conversion on an XB Please contact me.

Jered, what kind of riding are you doing that causes the belt failures ??
Are you drag racing it ?? Just curious, anyway here are the parts that a guy on BadWeb posted that he used for his chain conversion on his 2003 XB9R.
Front sprocket(21 teeth); V-twin # 19-0384 / $13.97
Rear sprocket (51 teeth); Vortex (Odessa Fl.) # 827-51 / $63.95 + 6.95 shipping
530 diamond chain; V-twin # 19-0326 / $37.49
Idler pulley; Gates # 38023 / $16.78 (AND its available in ANY autozone in USA!)
Total cost: $139.14 (YES it IS less than the cost of ONE belt!!!!)
There is also this but it is more $$$

Yeah, I have been to all of those places and at BadWeb.
I have Rear Sprocket (Vortex) and RK GB530 XSO chain.
I can't figure out what offset I need for the 530 chain front sprocket.
The message with the parts list from BadWeb lists V-Twin, but they don't have any contact info (I can't order parts online). I don't see any info about spacers that come with the 530 kit. I also am having a tuff time trying to part out components, especially the adjustable Idler sprocket Tensioner w/Bracket. Kelly from KCcycleworkz.com is always too busy to handle my needs and wanted to sell me a Free spirits adjustable tensioner for $200 since his own adjustable tensioners were out of stock.
That's too much green for me for a bracket and a sprocket.
I have been told by BadWeb to modify the stock roller tensioner bracket and replace the Stock pulley with a Sprocket or with the mentioned Idler Pulley from AutoZone, but then I would have to have 6303 bearings installed by a Machinist. Who knows how hard and confusing relaying all the info to whomever need to do that. If I could do it myslef I would, but I don't want it looking cheap and non-streamline.
I'll give Kelly at KCCycleworkz.com an e-mail to see if he has any parts in stock though. Last time I talked to him was before Dec 06 and he was out of stock.
Thanks for all of the info. Hopefully these threads will help someone who is trying to save hundreds of dollars without buying an expensive kit marked up $200-$400 more than parts all together for the sake of easy installation.
Again Thank you,
Jered

I got a PBI 23 tooth for Jireh. Offset out. But I'm working on a '91 Sportster.

What does Offset "out" mean? What is the "measurement" of offset you used?
Was it on a 530 chain? Did you need a rear sprocket spacer due to the Offset you used on your Front Sprocket? Did you use another Seal behind the Sprocket?
I get another Used belt tommorrow! Yay...How long can I putt around on this one for? :shhhh

The teeth of the sprocket sit outboard from the splines. Not sure, think it's 3/8". Yup, 530 chain. I matched up a PM wheel made for a sprocket, so I don't have an answer for that. I do make my own wheel spacers, though. No, no other seals.
My goal was to 1) have the sprockets perfectly aligned and 2) the wheel centered in the swingarm. Used a straight edge and a tri-square. It works.
Lemme know if you need another used belt.....

I don't know if you have this fixed yet. But this is who you contact at badweb....
site name: Saintly
real name: Fritz Saintmire
Do a search on his screen name and several threads will come up. You will need to send the tensioner to him....but he has it all figured out. He'll fix yours and put either a nylon "wheel" on it or a sprocket....whatever your preferance is.
