Has anyone rebuilt or is it possible to rebuild the original rear shock on a 2000 X1? It is leaking oil out the front seal. Are there reasonably priced alternatives, other than the 1000$ penske unit on ebay? Thanks

Works Performance makes a less expensive but still pricey shock. The original is not home-serviceable, but Race Tech and Aftershocks can rebuild them. Also, they show up regularly on eBay - just be sure to get the right length.
