the heat shield attaches with worm or hose clamps but there on the header pipe, not the muffler.

I don't know why or if it is needed. I thaught it looked a bit strange. :frownthre

Hmmmm.....it was on the front pipe. I took it off and the pipe is still in good shape under it so I polished it up and it looks as good as new.

Anyone with SEII Boloney Cuts.....you know what this is? Does this cover come with the SEII's???

When you purchase SE Baloney cuts, all you get are the 2 slip-on mufflers. All they do is replace the factory original mufflers on your bike .... and there are NO heat shields on your factory stock mufflers.

My bike has the SE Pro II "boloney cut" slip-on mufflers. Just click the link below.

I'm as confused as you are.....as I said, the heat shield was on the front pipe and went from the front of the pipe (where the header heat shield ends)and went back about 3/4 of the way back. WTF?!?

They are XL1200-S shocks. From the Sportster "Sport" that was discontinued in 2003

Previous owner probably got his leg too hot a couple times, and decided to buy an after market clamp on heat shield.

My thoughts exactly. I have a nice scar on my leg as well.

It's probabley the old shield of a set of stock pipes. I took mine off when I put on the SEII's and left it off.

Never heard of or seen anything like that myself. The stock ones dont have any shield on the mufflers just the header pipe.

This is the stock heat shield off the front muffler of my 2005 1200C

I got this in the mail last week. Propaganda from the moco. It shows a new 883r with a heat shield on the front stock muffler.

YES! That's it. What is that from? That didn't come on my stock mufflers on my 2005 1200C.

It came out of the crate with the heat shield on it.

The custom has forward controls, so maybe that is why mine didn't come with the heat shield in the pic? My stock pipes definitely don't have that that shield on either pipe.

My guess is the guy I bought them from had the stealership install the SEII pipes and they put the stock heat shield on the SEII pipe....

:o I stand corrected, I took the bike in to have them do the stage 1 and never saw the shield. They didn't put it on the aftermarket pipe. I couldn't tell there was a shield on it from the pictures.

A friend of mine bought a set of used SE ll's that had a heat shield on one muffler that wuz held on with worm clamps. We finally found that they had been removed from a "Screaming Eagle Fathead 88" (SE Electra Glide) . He was re-installing them on his Electra-Glide to replace the stock mufflers.

My 2005 1200c came with a heat shield on one of the mufflers. When I put the Cycle Shack Pipes (not just mufflers) I put the shields back on the header part but left off the muffler shield. It looked prety silly because I got the baloney cut pipes and the muffler heat shield covered part of the slash cut. Haven't burnt my leg yet, the custom does have forward controls, but at stops w/ my foot down haven't burnt myself. Now that is said and when it stops raining in So Cal I probably will.

The heat shield is standard with the 05 sportsters. It goes on the front pipe only. The reason is that with the hidden crossover, the pipes are pushed out farther and you very often will rub the side of your leg against the front pipe. The rear is too far back to hit with your leg, thus no heat shield. Whoever took the pipes off, just forgot to remove the heat shield.

I got one of the first 05 Sportys......I wonder if they introduced it after I got mine b/c my 2005 1200C didn't come with it.

I got my '04 883C last March & it had the heat shield on the front muffler. I Looked at the rest on show room floor yesterday & they did too ( was gettin the rear turn LED stems) So it seems to be standard on Customs ( at least here in Cali )

I have an 05 1200C I got pretty early also. End of July. I don't have that cover either.

I was at the dealer the other day and they had a few bikes in the show room that had factory heat shield on the mufflers. If they were on a set of SEII's, it just means the previous owner transfered them when he got his new exhaust.

I purchased one of the 1st 05' 1200Cs back in July and my son followed up and bought an October production 005' 1200c. Neither came with a heat shield. Could this be for CA models?
On a second note, I have installed SEII Pro slash downs on both. Great exhausts!
