Tomorrow morning, at approx. 9:00 a.m., I will be heading to my local HD Shop to sign the papers on my new 1200C. What I am so stoked about is that I am getting the exact color I want........Teal/Sand Custom Color. It will already have the taxes paid and a QD wind shield.

Since I have been a member here, I have usually visited every day thinking about this moment when I could actually write this thread. What a thrill it will be to pick it up this weekend and go for a nice long ride. I do have to wait until then so they can switch the sheet metal from a 883 to my 1200.

The bike I am buying is brand new but is also a trade-in. A guy won it at a local casino, took 1 lap around the parking lot, and promptly dumped it. It scared him so bad that he had it trucked to an auto dealer where they gave him a trade for a car. My HD dealer got it cheap and I am getting it for a very good price. There was minor damage to it, scrape on right fork, damaged right foot peg and ding in the tank. But with the swap of the sheet metal and them raiding the 883 for the peg and fork, it will be good as new...actually sold to me NEW.

So anyway, after tomorrow I will be a full-fledged member here instead of a wannabe.....lol.

Can you tell I'm HAPPY :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap

Ok. I went today, put down a deposit so they can start "building" my 1200C.
As I mentioned earlier, the sheetmetal is being swapped with an 883 and I hope to have the bike by next Tuesday or Wednesday. Its ok though because we are supposed to get rain all weekend here in N. Mississippi. And then it gets better toward Tuesday or Wednesday.

I hope to have pics here by next Friday, providing my wife doesn't throw the camera at me. She is a little miffed that I actually bought the bike but yesterday she said, and I quote, "you can do want you want, you're a big boy." So I took that to mean I can have it. :laugh So next week ought to be interesting to say the least.

I can't wait to start making this bike my own. I got out of the dealership only adding 2k in accessories. :yikes Wanted a lot more but stopped there.

I suggest you go and read the his/her definitions found on the battle of the sexes thread. It might be helpful here. :laugh :laugh :laugh

I read all that yesterday right before I called her and told her. So I knew I was in hot water..........but IT IS EASIER TO ASK FOR FORGIVENESS AND TO ASK FOR PERMISSION. And that is what I will tell the judge at the hearing........... :frownthre Hope it doesn't go that far though...... :yikes

BonRu, my wife and I have talked about this bike for months. Up until last September I was a huge golf fanatic. I was a member of a golf club and played approx 4x weekly. $$$$$ 14.5k in last 2 1/2 years. So I decided that I was totally burnt out on golf and that in order to afford a bike I would quit my club and use that money towards it. 14.5 k in that amount of time will certainlybuy my sporty for me.

I also work 2 jobs so I can support my hobbies. I put in 50-60 hrs weekly at Fedex in A/C mx and then I have a little sideline job that I make another 7k ann. And to top it off my wife makes more than me. Now, she said it was the money, but I suspect that she doesn't want me on a bike. I hope after I get it that she will ride with me, but I will not be holding my breath on that one.

We had agreed that I would get a bike in June, but I had to make a snap decision if I wanted this particular color scheme. Hopefully bu June she will get over it. :laugh

And as I said in that thread, we only have three moods: toddler, teen ager, senior citizen.

He cannot be held responsible for his actions when in the teen ager mood. Women are very aware of this and if she didn't expressly tell him "no", well then that's as good as a "yes" for us. :D You ladies know we aren't any good at rational thought once we find something we really, really, really want.

Gosh, don't we!!!

Deicer18, you take her riding as much as you can get her out. Find some nice scenic places to go where all she has to do is sit back and enjoy the beauty, or take her somewhere for a burger and beer, and she will be hooked in no time. Some women (my mother) have a way of only seeing the negative at first; you just gotta show them the positive, and the rest is gravy. I'm sure you will make her see it your way; no worries. She'll fall in love all over again soon. Good luck!! :o

I came home about 3 hours late on a Friday night. My wife asked why I was late. I told her I bought a motorcycle. She didn't believe me until the next morning when the dealer delivered the 1200C. She wasn't real happy for a couple of hours but got over it.

Yeah, I feel for you guys. :D

I used the "ask for the world and settle for A City" method of getting Paula to agree to let me buy a bike. I went to the Easy Riders Bike show in Charlotte NC last January. My digital camera was full of pics of all sorts of custom choppers.

Well, I got to showing her that I could get one for like $30,000. I'd have to build it myself from a kit but, just look at what I could have! Needless to say, she didn't cozzy up to that idea. In fact, her reply was "you'll NEVER own one of those!". :(

It only took me 3 months before I had my Sporty in the garage! :tour

Five years ago when I got married it was "suggested" that there be no more racing cars no airplanes no fast boats and above all certainly no motorcycles -- last summer she put on a motorcycle show for the HOG group -- they convinced her she was wrong -- and after five years of marriage -- the bloom is off the lilly and I got me a yeller sportster.

Now THAT is the smart way of doing it. Make her feel like you're settling for less to make her happy. Smart move. I'm impressed. Now I'll have to watch for that little maneuver from the boyfriend. Thanks for the heads up. :smoke
