I had the HD quick detachable windshield on my 1200L. I had ordered the low profile height, based on my experience with Memphis Shades Fats. After 7000 miles commuting back and forth to work, 130 miles roundtrip, I was tired of the wind noise and my helmet being buffeted constantly at highway speeds. They wanted more at the dealer for a taller replacement plastic and I liked the HD QD brackets better than the Memphis Shades hardware. Perusing a J&P catalog, I discovered that Memphis Shades had HD replacement plastic for about $40-50 cheaper, Next I started watching e-bay. After a couple of months of no luck finding replacement plastic for a Sporty or Dyna on Ebay, I did some measuring and research for alternatives. It looked like the MS replacement plastic for a HD Springer Softtail would fit. I had seen a couple of those on ebay. I scored the next one that came up for $36. Pulled the HD windshield apart slipped in new plastic....Presto, Chango... Taller shield, buffeting almost completely gone up to 75mph, and in the rain my face shield stays mostly clear. :banana On top of that, MS uses a thicker piece of Lexan. Thank you to everyone who posts tips and hints here. Ride safe!

I also have the low profile. I wish I could put the taller one on just to try it out. If I catch one on E-Bay for cheap I am going to bid on it.:banana

I decided not to put a QD on my 06 XL883, because I didn't see me removing it often, because of the terrible "helmet lift" when riding with no windshield. I bought the National Cycles Heavy Duty Low Boy, which works great, but I still noticed a lot of helmet buffeting at highway speeds. I purchased a Laminar Lip to channel the air over the top and it works great! The I sent them a template of the curve of my existing windshield and they recommended the lip for Moto Guzzi California EV, which fits perfectly. Interesting product, works well, and shoots the airflow up and over the rider, rather than causing turbulence, and was less $$$ than getting a taller windshield.
