Hi, I'm a 25 year old 3d animator from norway.
Currently planning my first harley purchase.
I am leaning towards a 2007 XL 883 C, mostly because of the forward foot controlls (I'm 6'2") so mid controlls are unconfortable for me.
the larger tank is also a definate plus ;)

just thought I'd introduce myself.

any thoughts on the 883 C?

Welcome to the Forum. Your thoughts are leading you in the right direction. If you have any questions about the bike at all, just ask. Someone in here will get you a good answer.

Welcome to the forum. I do like the larger tank on my Custom. I'm nowhere near 6' so I can't help you much there...

Welcome from Georgia! The 883C ought to be fine but a 1200C is probably a better buy unless you have displacement related tax issues.

Hello and welcome from Virginia. I bought an 883C a couple of months ago and I just love it. The forward controls were one reason I looked at it. I did spend a few minutes in the beginning just pedalling in thin air looking for the pegs. LOL
Good luck in your shopping.

:welcome from me!

I got the XL883C. I'm 6 foot tall and found the location of the controls and grips a little more fitting to my size. With the custom, you'll always have the rear foot pegs to switch to on longer rides. Using the rear pegs also helps shift your weight around for more seat comfort.

well there's the problem, in Norway car and motorcycle prices are pretty steep, a new 883c in Norway will set you back 128.000,- Norwegian kroners ( aprox $ 20.500,-) and a new 1200c will set you back about 174.000,- Norwegian kroners ( aprox $ 28,000,-) due to taxation on engine size (you'll be hard pressed to find a car i norway with an engine larger than 2 liters (agiain, du to taxation) and frankly $28,000,- is a little too mutch on a 3d animators salary (for now anyway.. ;) )

Hi from Holland.

I'm using a sportster for 18 years, last 5 years daily to get to work.
I bought this sportster (883 C, 2001) in 2005 and it's just fine!

Good luck!

Welcome aboard! I have an '06 883C, it suits me fine, but if power is your thing than a 1200 is worth looking into. Good luck!

Welcome from California! With the 883 you will always have the option later on to modify it to 1250cc. So enjoy it - and when you get the itch, upgrade!
I don't see how you could go wrong with the 883C. A beautiful bike.
