View Full Version : Staying logged in
Hogwylde 12th February 2007, 03:30 When I log in, it says I have done it right blah, blah, blah. Then when I try to reply or start a thread it says I am not logged in. I log in again and the cycle just repeats itself. Once I log in - I get kicked out within about 2-3 minutes. Does this happen to anybody else? Ideas?
Don't know what miracle happened that I was allowed to type this question!
jamey624 12th February 2007, 03:32 don't feel bad. it does it to me too. Gets irritating to the point that I give up and go to the HarleyTechTalk at msn groups
Hogwylde 12th February 2007, 03:45 I hear ya. Even like right now. I saw my name in the upper right corner so I was logged in and I saw your reply to my post. So when I clicked reply to write this post, again it said I wasn't logged in. Irritating to say the least. Even if I am just scanning through the gallery it'll say that the pictures are blocked because I am not a member and to please register or sign in. ARGHH!
Quebeker 12th February 2007, 03:48 if im inactive for more than 5minutes or so, i have to log in again, but as long as im typing or going to new pages, im OK.
Hogwylde 12th February 2007, 04:22 Now its been working for the last 15-20 minutes. Go figure. :doh

This same thing has been happening to me the past
couple of days but never happened before.
I just went and dumped all the cookies for the xlforum
in FireFox so we will see if that stops it.
Other than that I don't know what else to try so
it's worth a shot.
itsshemp 12th February 2007, 06:43 Same here. I have not found a common thread, so i dont know why/when it does it, but it does it all the time.
Im glad Im not the only one. I thought it was something I was not doing right.
Basically it sux!
bw9 12th February 2007, 12:00 It did it to me, too. Bert said to enable cookies/dump cookies, etc. Finally, someone said to make sure you check the "Remember Me" box next to your name at log-in. Problem solved.

Well apparently that doesn't fix it because
yesterday I chose the "remember me"
box several times and I still had
to keep logging in...however...
I went in and deleted the entire folder of cookies
for the xlforum in FireFox, and haven't had to
relog in since in about ten times returning to the forum.
Keep in mind too, that Bert optimizes the forum to
work best with Firefox so if you are using anything else,
try using Firefox for a few days and see if the issues go away.
sportysrock 13th February 2007, 01:03 I use Firefox and clear private data everytime it closes. I login, check a thread and are directed to Cycle World for an article, by the time I click back in the forum again I have to re-login. Is it a vBulletin timeout?
santansporty 13th February 2007, 08:01 Happens to me too... I have done the cookie thing, no improvement.
WiAlKi 20th February 2007, 15:40 Happens to me also when idle for just a short time.. gets kinda old logging in all the time..
Prebs 20th February 2007, 15:45 I have a problem when i post to a thread, the screen will go white like its trying to open but never does i have to relog in. Some time it happens often some times not alot not sure if its firefox or the program.
bplinson 20th February 2007, 15:51 This is a cookie issue. The cookies expire after 900 seconds and you will be logged out. Clicking the Remember Me box should log you back in once you come back to xlforum.net .
You have to accept all cookies from xlforum.net in order to stay logged on.
Bob F 4th March 2007, 22:13 My security settings and cookie settings are set high. I keep having to log on but so what. This is a great site and my computer is reliable.
