View Full Version : Hello, I'm a "bike-a-holic"
Buddha77 13th February 2007, 17:30 So, about two weeks ago I saw a small Nightster article in a magazine. I say to myself "I gotta know more" so off I go to the internet. I find a few stories and photos. "I HAVE got to see one." I head for the local shop and I see the big reader board flashing "Nightster", so I lay skid marks into the parking lot, jump outta the truck and go inside. And there she is, solid gloss black, and beautiful. Over the next two days I spend hours in the dealership, until the salesman says, "So, you done trying to talk yourself out of it yet?" I say "yep, write it up". And that, in long story short form, is how I ended up with the first Nightster sold in this area of Montana.
And if you want to know what pure frustration is, have a new bike at the dealership and a foot of new snow on the ground, along with 5 below temps. LOL! Oh well, it can't last forever, plus, the dealership needs the time to get the stage one on set up on it.
I am, however, fortunate in two other areas. When I told my wife about buying yet another new bike, she just laughed and said "whatever". Plus, for once in my life, and maybe the only time in my life, I was able to swing getting the Nightster and still keep my two up, long haul, lots of luggage, 4000 mile road trip, Vulcan 2000. Life is good.
Now, if I can just decide which jacket I want........
emzdogz 13th February 2007, 17:46 wow, congrats!
I want one too - I'm sure it won't go that fast or easy.

Gone 13th February 2007, 17:57 Welcome to the Xl Forum,
congrats on your new nightster, let us know what you think of your stage one mods.
hope the snow melts for you soon.
Post Pics......
Take care ride safe....
Buddha77 13th February 2007, 18:20 Yeah, since I am having the Stage 1 done before I even ride the bike, I won't have a point of reference for good or bad. I'm sure it won't be bad, I'm just not sure about a big benefit. I just thought "why not", it's seemed to work on all the other bikes I have done similar mods to.
It is interesting that the dealership gave me a 2 year warranty on the parts if I put them on now, vs. a 90 day warranty if I do it later. hhmmmm. Oh well, like I said, it probably won't hurt.
c pierce 13th February 2007, 18:23 Welcome from eugene oregon.
Sean 13th February 2007, 18:50 Hi, and welcome! Yeah, I think it's a standard "Harley thing" that whatever mods/accessories you have the dealer install at delivery are included in the factory warranty.

Crusin_w00kie 13th February 2007, 18:55 Welcome from CT (expecting snow as we speak). Nice, taxes paid before even taking delivery. Enjoy it, take some pics and ride safe!
Rascal 13th February 2007, 18:59 Hello from Missouri & welcome to the forum. Enjoy that new "Nightster", I'm jealous as hell!!! Ride safe when weather allows it, snowing the size of half dollars here right now.
Matt 13th February 2007, 19:05 Welcome from GA! I hate you. Just kidding! I'm consumed with jealousy is all.

addicted 13th February 2007, 19:12 Great story. Congratulations on your Nightster purchase. :clap
Your wife sounds like a keeper. So's mine. :)
Buddha77 13th February 2007, 19:18 Thanks, folks.
Sorry, Matt. LOL! I'll post pictures this summer when we do a day hop through Yellowstone Park. It's rough having Yellowstone Park, Glacier Park, the Grand Tetons, and the Beartooth Pass all within a days ride from home. And now, a new cool tool!
Yeah, I'm a lit excited.

Koot 14th February 2007, 05:25 Welcome Buddha77 from south eastern British Columbia where we also are up to our butts in the damn white stuff. I share your "pure frustration" as my new ride, an '06 1200L, sits in Vancouver (where they know nothing about snow and cold) waiting for spring and riding weather to arrive out here.

gammaqueen 14th February 2007, 06:24 Congrats on the bike. I don't see how you guys make it in all that snow and cold. I can't even imagine what 5 below feels like. Can you tell a big difference between like say 20 degrees and 5 below? I know when it gets in the 20's, it is freakin cold!
