Sorgys told me that my 12" Progressive shocks are on the way. I'm assuming that these shocks are going to lower my std XL down to about where a Custom or XL50 is. Does that sound about right? What is the shock length on the std 883?

13.25" is standard, the 12" will drop you a little over an inch.

According to Progressive's website (http://www.progressivesuspension.com/prod_search.aspx), their replacement length for standards is 13". The replacement length for low's and customs is 11.5".

I was under the impression that the 883 Low has shorter shocks than Customs and 1200 Lows. They sure look shorter in the pics...and the seat height is listed as lower for the 883 Low in the specs.

My 07 custom was at 11.75" stock, but I actually raised it with 12.5" shocks. Not sure if the Low is actually lower than 11.75 stock or not.

My understanding was the low's and customs use the same length rear shocks, but different fork lengths. Also, the low's have the "solo reach seat" offering a lower seating position. Maybe I'm wrong about that...
The parts catalog shows 4 different part numbers for shocks:
54566-04 - Std 883 and 1200R
54568-04 - 883C, 1200C, 1200L, and XL 50
54570-05 - 883R
54626-07 - 883L
The parts catalog doesn't show lengths unfortunately...

So here's how the numbers fall out:
Std 883 and 1200R = 13.25"
883C, 1200C, 1200L, and XL 50 = 11.75"
883R = ???
883L = 11.5"
