Does anybody know what the stock cams are in a XB9R? Are they the same cams as in a XB12R?

PuddlePirate 28th February 2007, 13:54 Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but all XB cams are the same. They are the same grind as the SE .551s, but will not work in an Evolution engine without some work done to them. aswracing 28th February 2007, 14:54 Pirate is right, they're the "E" grind, but the keyway for the timing cup is in a different place and thus they won't work in an XL. XB9 & XB12 both use the same cams. CBAS5 28th February 2007, 21:48 Pirate is right, they're the "E" grind, but the keyway for the timing cup is in a different place and thus they won't work in an XL. XB9 & XB12 both use the same cams. That's very interesting then because according to the specs on the XB12 the torque and hp peak are 800 rpm apart while on the XB9 the torque and hp peak are 2000 rpm apart. Wouldn't that give a the XB9 a much larger powerband? That's a big difference for the same cams. aswracing 1st March 2007, 04:22 The 9 power peaks at 7500rpm and the 12 power peaks at 6800rpm (both are basically peaking right at their respective rev limiters). Not surprising considering the 12 is a bigger motor, with a correspondingly greater airflow requirement, breathing through the exact same heads and cams. So yeah, it runs out of breath sooner. |
