View Full Version : Flat tracker tires for my 'Street tracker'?

I'm looking for those wide/fat semi-knobbie looking tires seen on the flat track racers. OK, OK, I don't race on a clay track, and I wouldn't want to show up on the 'posers' forum :yikes (!). It's just that I like the 'look' since it's the ... 'street tracker' image I want to project. :wonderlan
So could someone direct me to a source for 16" and 19" tires like that?
I have seen road racers with similar looking tires used for racing 'in the wet'
and, since we get alot of rain in these parts, maybe a rain tire might even be
(gods forbid) functional... but I expect that, being a softer compound, they'd wear alot sooner. Also, I plan to explore some of the gravel/dirt roads here, as soon as I beef up my suspension (my NEXT project!).
Mainly, I want a beefier, wider front tire with a pronounced tread. The OEM rear will just have to do until it wears out. Pretty soon.

The Metzler Tourance looks like a tire that you might be interested in. Only the rear tire is only available in sizes to fit 17" rims. A lot of the guys into adventure riding use them.

The 16" rear will be the problem.

Pirelli's MT60 is a good looking tire with the look you're going for. 17" rears, though.

I run those same tires. They look great, but the bikes definitely tracks differently. The k180s love to follow the grooves in grooved concrete!
