I posted before about the gains from the fork spring kit from progressive, and the positive results. Just to recap- I used the 11-1523 kit with the supplied 2" spacer, and 15 wt. fork oil. I used the supplied spacer, prepared to put a longer one in if needed- worked great the way it was.
I have since installed a set of 12.5" 440HD shocks. My intent was to raise the scoot slightly, and improve handling and ride quality. Man, did I hit it right!
No more dive during breaking, twisties are a whole different story than stock, and the ride is so vastly improved, Mamma said it seemed like a different bike.
The hard bumps don't drive her off the seat and forward, and the dips and rises in the road are almost undectable.
I have to say, Progressive components perform as advertised.

Installation notes- The paperwork states that the shocks are set to min preload at the factory. I read this after diddling around with them after they arrived. I cranked them down to the first reference mark before installing, which I thought was the min setting. I rode around for a while, and thought them a little firm. I called Progressive, and they informed me the min setting is at the full back off to the point it stops, works now.
I also had a small clearance problem with the belt guard and the lower shock cover. I used the washers supplied with the shocks, both upper and lower along with the spacers specified for the kit. Did this on both sides just to keep all the geometry the same-worked out perfect.
I just prepped her for winter and covered her up, maybe I'll get a warm day in Feb when I come back from Alaska-Yeah, Right.

Later,
WT
