After having my last bike totalled while sitting at a stop light, I have decided to get back into biking. That was in 1986 and it was a Honda CB750C. I am looking at 2007s, think I will go with the XL1200C.

My concern with the L and R models is the tiny gas tank. Seems like I'll be going to the pumps every day, maybe twice a day. How many REAL around town MPG should I expect?

I read a lot of the posts here, am I to understand it is the first year for the carbon-fiber belt and EF!? Does make me nervous about being an early adopter.

Thanks all, really looking forward to the Harley. Didnt have the cash for this kind of bike back then, and I feel more inclined to buy American these days anyway.

Welcome to the forum. I have a custom and don't hit reserve until 150 - 175 miles so I'm happy with the larger tank.

When you say reserve, is this different than the old reserve systems with the petcock to draw from the "smaller straw" in the tank, or just a low fuel light.

Another thing I will miss is a tach, do many folks install one of the HD after market tachs?

On my '05 it's just when I run out of gas and have to switch the petcock to the reserve position.
(switching the) petcock to draw from the "smaller straw" in the tank
Never really pushed reserve beyond 30 miles or so, but I think I have about a gallon left when I hit it.
