i have an '01 1200 my bike has drag pipes, screamin eagle intake and ignition... i need to know where the next step is.. is it true that if i put new cams i should bump up the compression.. i want new cams and to do some head work.. dont know what direction to go in though.. thanks

You'll probably want to do heads before cams. Not only can you tailor the cams to the heads you choose, but you'll also see a more noticeable improvement from head work. Of course, if you can afford to do both at once, so much the better...unfortunately, most of us don't have that option. :(

On an unrelated note, welcome to the forum!

What do you want, in the end?!??!

Ok, first things first, get rid of them there drag pipes, they will kill your torque.

Get a Thunderheader.

After that, cams and headwork can do a lot, but the more you want is the more it will cost you.

I think with a good performance based exhaust, you may not want to do more.

Dump the drag pipes and get a good 2 into 1 exhaust.
Drag pipes kill performance
