I was at the gun show sunday looking for a small carry gun.Wanted the Bond arms.

A local shop owner said they are a great gun,he doesn't BS either.
He WILL sell you a ruger semi auto,if you have to have it.
He said the BA's are a very precision made gun.Great quality, limited availability because they don't "mass" produce them, blah, blah, blah

Anyway,I found one,in .45ACP like I wanted,at the show

But it was chrome, and not a very good finish. It was kind of bumpy.Seemed like a cheap chrome job,or the gun was bounced around.
The stainless ones are frikken nice.

I know some on here have these. What is the finish like on yours? Is this as good a gun as the shop owner says?

I have never seen a Bond in anything except stainless.
And their site only list stainless.

Are you sure the chrome one was a Bond?

I know personally every one of the cowboys that they show in their brochure that have used them in SASS competitions and yes, Bond's are the best quality derringers out there.

I've been curious about the derringers. The fact that there is no cylinder gap in the derringers might mean better ballistics than a snub nose, but I'm curious about how it kicks. Anyone know what type of kick to expect? I was thinking about one in 38special. I've only fired one snubbie (Taurus; 38 special) and there wasn't much kick.

HA!:clap We may have a winner!:banana

That was the question I forgot to ask,is it a Bond Arms.
And if it was, then someone sure FKDED up a polish job.

I am expecting it to kick, but these are heavy. As heavy as a snubby.
You would have to do some testing with rounds to see which one you like.
Cause if you don't like it,you'll flinch and miss your mark.

Here ya go Weo.

Only problem I have with them is the 20 something kids constantly telling me how to handle a gun.
A little too anal for me.
That and all the cops hanging out with their chests out.

Hope these aren't your friends I just dissed.

He does do a lot with cowboy shooting and old colts.
Haven't seen him at the gun shows for a couple years.

I've got the Bond Arms Texas Defender in 45 acp., very high quality stainless steel, just beautiful. It's very precision, and yes, it's very accurate. I've fired off a bunch of standard 230 gr. and find the recoil (kick) very minimal and easy to shoot. I've added the extended grip (l have large hands) and that made it even easier to shoot. Good choice, and yes, it's as good, maybe even better than the shop owner said. Just in case you didn't get the manual with it, SLIDE your finger DOWN to the bottom of the trigger toward the rear of the guard, using the ball of your finger, don't pull as with other guns. Don't rest the hammer on the web of your hand (puts tension on the hammer) and use snap caps to dry fire.

I didn't buy it.I was suspect of the finish.
I 'm still thinking on it.They are a little spendy, but perfect for the bike.

But thanks for the input. It helps,I think.

Nope, I ignore all the wannabe's and only deal with the owner.
Can't remember his real name, I know him as "Boothill Bob".

If you do end up getting one, the barrels are interchangeable too. I bought mine at my local gun store in 40 S&W, then changed over to the 45 acp. Not only perfect for the bike, also perfect for back pocket concealment in summer weather when only shorts and tee-shirt will do.

Mike something

You in the Tacoma area then?

I like to deal with Moe in Federal Way

Yeah, Mike.
I'm north, Kent/Renton.
The experience you had at Marksman was what I had at Federal Way. :)

grabowski

That's funny.
Ive heard that before, actually yesterday at a gun shop.

The guys at FW don't fck with me 'cause I answer customers questions for them.
They ask Moe a question and I'll give an answer before he does, and he just smiles. So they just leave me alone and give me the guns I ask for.

Now I don't go to the MKSMN so they don't know me.Hence the lack of respect, that I may also have showing someone I don't know a gun.

Bottom line is I can get a lot of carry gun for $600+-

So I go by my favorite gun shop in Federal way today.
They have a Kimber compact carry(something like that),that HUGE H&K .45,some XD's,a 10mm glock I may pick up(yeah right,it's probably gone by now),a 23 glock and some scattered revolvers.
They are busy as usual.Moe is very respected around town, some don't like his attitude, but he know's his shit.
I get along fine with him,but I know how to act in a gun store, you know, don't be or act stupid,or ask stupid questions?

I go to the "small" gun case,derringers,22's,.25's and such.

What do my wondering eyes find? Yep,my .45ACP Bond Arms!:banadanc:banana:clap

Moe says"You know what?,this is already sold" I stabbed his hand with a pen and said "What?":p
He knew I'd been looking for it to come in,someday. He never knows what they will send him or when.

He hasn't seen one for about 5 months. They just don't put them out very fast.

So I got my the gun I hope to never use.Hey what good is it other than a carry gun?
Well if you've held one,you know it can be used to tether a horse.:smoke

Now I need to get one of those cool little holsters for it.

Great gun, and the holsters are well made and fit perfect in the back pocket. Very comfortable carry.

A b ooth at the gun shows has about 20+ different sayings on then.My favorite is

"I carry a gun 'cause a cop is too heavy"

I may get one of their's if I can't find a nice alternative.
I also want to get the .45lc/410 4" barrel for it

What did we come up with for loads? The 165g HP?

I fired the standard 230 gr. loads and the recoil was no big deal. I decided on the 165 gr. HYDRA-SHOK JHP Low Recoil. Considering the 3 inch barrel, 1060 fps. with Low Recoil is a sweet shooter, and has more potential for penetration and expansion. I have the extended grip because I have large hands...much better. Here is a pic of my gun, and of gun in holster. If you do get the 4 inch barrel, you may want to consider the extended grip simply for better balance. Because it's a double barrel, I like this saying too.."If they're worth shooting once, they're worth shooting twice" :D

A guy at the gun store was showing me some 410 "slugs",4 part slugs.
Sounds kinda nasty.
