Has anyone installed the pullback handlebars on their bike yet? I was wondering if a new throttle/idle cable and clutch cable are really needed. The catalog states that they are, but I have read a few posts on here about converting to buckhorn or mini apes and still using stock cables. Any thoughts or info is appreciated. I am new to the forum but have already found this to be the best resource for my sporty. Thanks again

I had the dealer install them on my 05 and yes, I had to get longer cables. I got the purdy braided ones and I'm glad I did....gosh I love how they look! :)

I installed the pullbacks on my Sporty last summer. That made a huge difference in comfort for me.
I needed to replace the brake line with the longer braided brake liine, however I did not need to replace the clutch cable or the throttle cables. You will need to reroute the throttle cables behind the forks though. This isn't a big deal.

Thanks for the quick replies. I have the braided brake line, but I hated to spend the money on the throttle/idle cable and the clutch cable. I like the looks of the braided cable as well.

So you did the job yourself? Was it very difficult? Rerouting the cables was all you had to do otherwise? Thanks again for your help and any advise you can offer. I am interested in doing the job my self if possible.

I did this job myself. It was not difficult at all. You need to remove the throttle cables at the handlebars and reroute the cables behind the forks.. that was the most difficult, but not really difficult at all.
There was a thread on the old Sportster forums that mentioned this as well... you could do a search on those if you want to see more on this.
