So i went out for a ride after work went about 10 miles when the oil light comes on so i pull over check the oil which was fine the let the bike sit for 15 minutes turn it back on and the light is still on so i call the gilr friends brother to come get me with his trailer so i dont have to ride it home and chance doing some damage so i get home about an hour later and go to pull the bike off the trailer and into the garage the light goes out so i took it for a ride up the road about a 1/4 mile and it didnt come back on , the bikes oil was changed just a few weekes ago and everything has been fine the bike only has 11,000 miles on it has this ever happened to anyone else and if it has what caused it gonna get the owners manual tommarrow and check what the rouble shooting sections says but any info would be greatly appericated :cloudmad

The oil light isn't very scientific. It just acts like a switch. If low pressure it shorts the signal wire to ground causing the light to come on. If good pressure the circuit is open so the light goes off.
If you have oil circulating then you're probably okay. Look for air bubbles in the oil tank, if you see them then the oil is circulating.
There's a good chance that your sensor has just gone bad. The pressure sensors on the '03s were crap. I replaced one at 10K miles, 20K miles and 25K miles.

Very easy to change. It's the sensor that's right in front of the oil filter - it has one wire to it. Some people say to use thread sealant on it, others will tell you not to. Personally, I don't, cause I'm afraid that it'll mess with the ground signal and the light may not come on when it should.

Be careful that you do not over tighten the switch. The metal is very thin on the oil filter mount area and the switch will act as a sort of wedge and crack the metal if over tightened.
