It is with great sadness that I must announce that we have lost another XL Forum member.

Chris Vaughan (Whiffy), from the UK, passed away on 17 March. "While riding he was in a collision with a tractor at the end of a long ride. His wife and daughters are devastated by his loss. Chris would have wanted to say to all who knew him to drive carefully when you are out there."

On behalf of The XL Forum I would like to convey our condolenses to the family. They are in our thoughts and prayers.

My condolences to his family.

Tractors on narrow lanes in the UK are a problem, gotta be extra careful.

More information.

Road Death, Sibsey - Victim’s Details Released (252/1703)

Police investigating a road traffic collision in which a 52 year old man died have released his detail. Mr Christopher Vaughan from (address removed for protection of the family) was travelling on his blue Harley Davidson motorcycle along the A16 Main Road towards Sibsey on Saturday 17 March 2007 when, at around 2.45pm, his motorcycle was in collision with a large crop spraying vehicle. Mr Vaughan was taken by ambulance to Pilgrim Hospital where he subsequently died. Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision. They would also like to hear from anyone who saw Mr Vaughan travelling north along the A16 prior to the collision. Anyone with information should contact PC Tim Ketton at Witham House on 01522 532222 or call the Witness Hotline direct on 01522 558855. Mr Vaughan leaves a wife and two teenage daughters. They are distraught and have asked for no direct media contact at this time. In the meantime, officers are working with the family and hope to be able to release a tribute and photograph on their behalf sometime later this week.

I will be attempting to contact the family to find out if there is any way that we can assist them. If anyone has more information please send it to me via PM.

My condolances to his family also...

Is there any way to first see if the family is OK with it, and then possibly send flowers or something like that to his services?

Don't even know if they already had them...

At any rate I am saddened and will ride extra carefully. My prayers are with his family.

Shit.

Rest in peace fellow biker. At least he was doing what he loved. I pray for his wife and daughters that they may have closure on this tragic event in their lives.
We must all be prepared for the worst when we have family members that depend so much on us.
May the Good Lord watch out over each and everyone of us.

My condolences to the family

Ride on brother !

Do not stand at my grave and weep:
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond’s gilt on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s
hush, I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

UPDATE:

I have attempted to contact Chris' family but have not had any luck. The police in his city would not give my the phone number to his wife because it is unlisted. The police told me that he has already been buried.

KiltBill is also trying to get the contact info so that we can send some flowers.

I do have Chris' address since he became an XL Forum Team Member 15 days before his death. I will send a card to his famly.

I hate to hear that ! And thanks for the Information. Reminds us all that at any minute we can be gone !
I often wonder about this, We all get to Know each other pretty well, We share everything from our rides to our personal problems. If any of us were to be in an accident or killed, How would the forum ever know what happened to them. I would hate to think that one of our members would leave us and we would never know what happened to them.

My heart goes out to Whiffy's family,

God Bless them !!!

Would be cool if you could setup a website for all of us to sign the card, Then print and send it to them ????

for those who missed it, it was a bad gut feeling for myself and Gronk who were browsing the forum early one day. a random post stating whiffy is dead. i pm'ed gronk thinking this was some cruel strange joke from whiffy(was his user name). thread was locked down until further investigating. seems his computer may have been on or something and a family member posted about his passing. everytime i run across a post of his i get that same sick feeling in my stomach.
I miss Whiffy, his humor, and his whit. He didnt post as much as others but his post were definitely quality material. RIP
