I have been doing alot of readin in this forum ( and the web) about the "Harley Tax". All i have done so far is put on Cycle Shack slip ons. I am ordering my A/C kit this weekend and will then rejet. Ive been reading alot of different opinions regarding rejetting. I have been reading about the DynoJet kit a Thunderslide. Are these things really needed? I was just going to rejet like most people have done. Im not sure if i really need to buy these kits or mess with the slide or needle.....Im kinda lost here. One more thing, will i get any benefit from changing out the ignition system....coils....plug leads...

Forget jet kits ..... they are designed to relieve newbs of their $$$$$$$$$$

Current stock ignition/leads is good enough to run your bike to well over 13:1 compression....way better than anything you will need for a long time to come

I Bought a "Yost Power Tube Master Kit" To do my carb and from waht I've read here on this forum I think I could have done it cheaper and got the same results. :smackh

Stevo is good advice. Follow him.

I've read up on a lot of different information at several different places, and what I finally decided to do was just replace the jets. Add that with the SE AC, and the Cycle Shack slipons, and everything works pretty damn good.

I even found some short cuts for doing the jets. :D

What Stevo said.

(damn I'm getting tired of saying that. Would you please be wrong about something so I can argue with you?)

LOL ... reminds me of something.

We're sitting in line at Bonneville a few years ago. There's lots of busa's at Bonneville. There's lots of busa riders who come out and are surprised they can't go 200, stock ones run in the 180's and it takes a ton more power to get from 180's to 200. Anyway, we're chatting with this guy sitting on his highly modified busa. Long swingarm and the whole works. The guy riding my bike asks "how fast are you running?" He answers "198". How fast you guys going?" He answers smugly with his southern drawl: "203". it was just a funny moment. You had to be there.

Someday I'll argue with you about pistons. That's about the only subject I've seen that we don't agree on. But not online ;)

I gather you'd get some argument from Ron Broom (panmanKB) on pistons too...

i've seen his opinions on your piston material....although I'm still to be convinced 100% either way......as you say for what we are likely to discuss it's best done behind the door with a beer :cheers

At the end of the day I researched hard and am gonna be using your old barrells and Hurricanes on my 88" ... so I wouldn't say we dissagree ;)

A lot of my piston experiance comes from the car side as well as the bike side and I don't have the brand specific knowledge that you do...one of the unfortunate things of being up here in paradise.....it's also bloody hot up here...a cooler climate may give slightly differing results

I can be convinced to change my mind ony most things if I'm shown a better way and why it's a better way...I can be annoying in an argument because if I realise I'm wrong mid way I'll then agree with the other person...puts people right off :D:D:D:D.....the only way one learns is to keep searching for new knowledge and assimilating that into the knowledge we already have.....if ya don't learn and change ya NEVER gonna be the man at the front.....

beaten paths are for beaten men...

by the same token ....

education is cheaper (both time and $$$) and easier than experiance.....I much prefer to learn from others than make the same mistakes myself

On the A/C subject, forgive me if this is a completely stupid question, but...

After getting hammered in the rain, I got to wondering about the Forcewinder. I love the look but was wondering about performance in extremely wet conditions with that naked filter hanging out there.

Inputs?
