Has anyone started looking into plutting Buell Thunderstorm parts on the 2007models? I was very impressed with the conversion I did on my 2003 883R.

The 2004+ heads are much better than the 1991 - 2003 heads. You essentially have XB heads on your bike now, so the Thunderstorms would be a step backwards. In addition, the Thunderstorm pistons would not work, I don't think, because of clearance issues with the piston oil squirters. You could probably get a piston (not H-D or Buell, but aftermarket) to clear the squirter and match the Thunderstorm head, but the head would be a step backwards on a 2004+ XL motor, IMO.

Chris you're assuming he has a 1200 :D He may have an 883 in which case he would not have XB heads.

Even if it was an 883 why would you go with an older head design? My opinion is to go with the latest hot setup at the time. We all know that the current hot setup may only last one season but get the latest stuff. Just my opinion.

I agree. If I had an 883 and I wanted heads, then I would go with the XB heads over the thunderstorms. I just didn't want him thinking he has XB heads even on his 883.
