Just traded my hopped up '05 1200R for an orange '09 XR.
What a great bike. I can't think of anything yet that I don't see as an improvement over previous Sportsters unless it would be an issue of styling preference.
I'd pretty much decided to buy one before I ever rode it and had the deal hammered out. I rode mine just to make sure there was nothing wrong with that particular unit. Good thing because i knew within seconds that this is a bike I had to have and I'd have been easier prey for his salesman wiles.:D
From what I can tell the Europeans take the bike far more seriously and there seems to be quite a bit of stuff being developed for it. Being a tinkerer I'm glad to see this.
I realize there aren't many people posting on these bikes yet but has anyone done any mods to theirs yet, exhaust intake or such?
This is probably about the 50th motorcycle I've owned in the last 40 years and I thought I was pretty much over getting real excited about a new one but this one has me pretty jazzed up.

I don't have permission to post attachments. Its bone stock at the moment, probably will be for a little bit while I figure out what I might want on it.

Thats one great bike, a nice do it all swissarmy knife type. As soon as I have few more years on the FZ1 the XR1200 is next on the list.

Mine clearly says You May Not Post Attachments, nor is there any attachment manager bar appearing. I guess it does allow me to upload into the xlf gallery, just not attach to a post.

Joe, We older guys must think alike. I too have a XR1200 and a Buell. I got the XR because it rides and handles like a motorcycle should.

Don't bother with attachments, they're a waste of time anyway; you're only allowed enough space for one thing, then you have to delete the attachment in order to attach something different to another post.

I've got no idea what an attachment manager bar is. I've occasionally used attachments; I just attached stuff through the options when posting the post.

Much better to upload your pics to the gallery here, or to Photobucket. Then all you need to do is insert the url of the pic between and tags.

Congrats on the new ride!

I test drove one two weeks ago at a demo day. What a sweet bike. Those front brakes you have to be careful off, otherwise I think if you squeeze that little lever to far you'll end up over the bars and on your back! LOL

The thing was quick too!
