About a week after swapping handlebars on my '07 Sportster the turn signals and the brake light work intermittently. That is to say most of the time they don't work then for no reason come on again only to fail again. Headlight, taillight and front running lights are working normally. Where should I start looking?

Check the connectors at the fuse block. gl

When you swapped your bars, did you extend any wires? or cut any etc. or can they be pinching in the holes?

I didn't extend or cut any wires. (4.25" straight risers and drag bars) I admit that they could have been pinched and after loosening up and readjusting the controls I still have the intermittent problem. The turn signals and brake lights are working as of a few minutes ago but it's been my experience all day today that I can turn the key off, then on and things won't work.

Under the seat there is a connector where the rear lights connect into the main harness. Maybe something got shoved loose under the seat? Probably worth checking anyway since it's easy enough to yank the seat off.

I checked under the seat last night. As far as I could tell nothing is loose. Both the front and rear turn signals as well as the brake light are intermittent. In what way are the signals and brake light wires connected?
I appreciate the help.

On your handle bars you have turn switch and front brake lever
Do you have a factory manual for this bike?

I do not have a factory manual.
I will be the last one to get in your case but it would help you a whole bunch and will pay for itself the first few times you use it, really, take it from an old man like me:shhhh
It has a basic wiring diagram and lots of good things in it

Well, they say a picture is worth a thousand words...
I happened to a post a picture of the cabling under the seat the other night because somebody asked how I connected the turn signal module. So, the picture below is of me holding the module in my hand (you won't have one of these) the pigtails that are coming out of it goes to two connectors. Those two connectors in stock configuration would connected to each other instead of this module:

Maybe that demonstrates where they connect into the harness better.
The other thing I would check is under the fender. Make sure there's no wires that have rubbed the tire.
I know they started having problems after you did the handlebars, but sometimes it's good to check everything rather then just what you worked on. It might not be related.

So far today the brake light and turn signals have been working. I took the seat off again and all connections are tight, moving cables around on the bars/headlight area doesn't make the lights blink on and off like you think they would with a bad connection or short. Hmmm. Time to get the meter out and trace down some wires.
It's going to turn colder over the weekend, maybe I'll have some time to get the manual ordered and troubleshoot it some more.
Thanks for all your input, I appreciate the help!
