That's freakin' awesome! Me likes.

Can you steer? It appears there may be some clearance issues with the tank?

yes, i have full clearance. My hands are very close to the tank on full lock, but nothing is touching it.

Steering is very heavy, or maybe I'm just not use to it.

Yeah, some black Napoleon bar ends would complete the package! And get pics as I've been wondering how they'd look! :D Seriously, I had some on my SV650 few years back and really liked them. Been considering them for my Sporty.

Looks great. Can that Clutch cable be routed through the tree so it isnt in front of the light. I just did that with mine as I hated where it was prior. Nice work!

2nd April 2007, 04:32
I like that alot! It looks really good sporty!

2nd April 2007, 15:37
The heavy steering is probably because the clip ons are much shorter and you've lost leverage to turn the bike.

Now add a nice 2-1 and some rear sets and you've got a nice twisty machine!

2nd April 2007, 15:46
I was beginning to wonder if you were just gonna stand there and video the bike or get on and ride that puppy! I love the looks of the nightster. Are the turnsignals also breaklights? Ive been thinking about getting a nightster rear fender and think it would be cool to lose the big rear break light!

parts list:
Red lenses
Nightster rear fender
Tail light controller/rewire

Oooh... that looks wicked! I'll be ordering mine in a month or so and will be looking into drag bars for it... nice work!

You know, I've actually ridden for 50-100 miles and it wasn't so bad. I might test it out this weekend on a 350 mile round trip.

I concur. I've rode my 1200S with cafe bars 200 miles one way and didn't have a problem, other than the fact that I had about 2 1/2 gallons (10-20 oz bottles) of Mt. Dew Live Wire in my backpack and there wasn't enough strap to let it rest on the rear seat pad, so I was in a rush to say the least lol. BTW if you choose to get bar end mirrors r any others and decide to sell your originals let me know. I'd be interested in buying them.

Nice Soundfile

Can you post a pic of yourself sitting on it, like you're riding it? I want to see what the seating position looks like. Thanks.

6th May 2007, 20:29
yeah, I want to see the sitting poster. I have watched the video like 30 times. Look is clean... super clean. I was thinking the bike would look clean with some exile cycle drag bars with the twist clutch and everything hidden. CLEAN!

I just put the clip-ons back on, so I will try and get some pics of me sitting, riding, and maybe a video of me riding. I will need some help from the roomie

7th May 2007, 04:16
"I just put the clip-ons back on" why did you take them off?

"I just put the clip-ons back on" why did you take them off?

I took them off for a poker run. I had a pretty little gal on the back, so in order to seal the deal, I had switch the sticks.

Believe, I did not want to take them off. I still have not had a long weekend with them. Hopefully this weekend I will. About 350 mile round trip. Longest so far has been around 100 miles in a weekend. Piece of cake for me. Of course I was doing push-ups and sit-ups.

That bike looks great. Where did you get the bars? I've been looking for 1" 39mm clip-ons but can't seem to find them.

3rd November 2009, 13:45
I love the look of clip ons on a sporty! Hadn't really considered it, all my previous bikes have had them, but came with them..

Must handle/steer terribly at low speeds though? I think the amount of heavy traffic I navigate most mornings would put me off trying them from a practical point of view. The sporty weighs a lot more than my previous bikes and I don't want to end up with wrists like popeye...

Good looking bike though. Nice job.

18th May 2011, 00:14
Hi...you gotta tell me where you got the clip ons and what issues you had with the install...that bike is S-I-C-K!!!!

18th May 2011, 00:49
looks great. clip-ons aren't so bad when you get used to them. i rode 1K miles round trip to Penn. last summer & 500 miles round trip in one day for a buddies funeral on my 14, & i'm an old fart...

do you think these would be more comfortable with forward controls or mids

18th May 2011, 07:39
clip ons and forwards?!?!? egad, what are you, a 13 yr old Romanian gymnast?

18th May 2011, 07:46
lots of 1" / 39mm clip ons on ebay. Just type in Harley clip ons or 1" clip ons and you will get plenty of hits. Mine are Rock Wall Clip ons... $99
