Hey guys & gals! I introduced my self last week saying I was looking to get a Sportster after waiting wayy to long. Found one locally shortly after and went and looked at it Saturday. It's a 99 883 (11.8k miles)with a mild amount of after market stuff. (grips, mirrors, bars etc) I of course enlisted the help of a Harley friend. The guy was asking $4200.
Well he was really motivated to unload it thanks to his wife.
Well long story short we rolled out with it under me for 3k!
Paint is nice (black! looks great next to my black 93 Ford Lightning!!)
rode it home and it didnt miss a beat. the aluminum bits have been pretty neglected. the bars ar 10 rise which I didnt think I would like at first, but after already 150 miles in two days, I like them.
I like the souond of the screaming eagle pips too.
why did I wait so long?!?!?!?
my buddy and his friend took me out to some country roads north of Orlando and I had a blast. of course I couldnt keep up cause they are on some big modded HD's but they waited for me.:D
we think it is a 883 custom. had factory lace front wheel and something else )my buddy said but I cant remember now) that makes him think it is a custom model.
is there a way to tell by the vin what model it is?
also are the front tuen signals always lit like runing lights? if so one is burned out or one is staying on.
there is a pic in my avatar. (I cant seem to find out how to sign up officially and get a gallery...I may still be high from all the fun and excitement the last two days)..also sorry for such a long post!:doh

Hey Cult, welcome to the coolest HD forum on the planet. I like the new scoot and post some more pics when you can. If you want to start a gallery here, you will want to join as a full member by contributing to an annual membership for $25. That'll get you some extra priviliges and allow you to post all your pics on the server. You'll also need to have a few posts before you can link pictures in your threads. I think its 15 posts before you can add photos to a post. Here is the link for membership which allows you full rights on the server.

Sounds like you got a great deal. For VIN info try this place
http://www.sportster.org/tech/vin.shtml
You should be able to find what you want. The rear turn
signals should be only turn signal and not running lights. I believe on the 99's that only the front turn signals are both running and turn lights. Hope this helps, Roger

I wonder what the dealers charge for a 1157 bulb.
