I can't be the only one here in Alaska, I thought someone lived in Palmer. Anyways, there is alot of nice riding to be had here it's just way to short of a riding season. It helps having almost 24 hours of daylight in late June, really easy to lose track of time. So if your up here or coming up on your bike drop me a line, I'll show you around a little bit. If I'm not working, summers are busy up here.

Don't know if anyone else is up there, but maybe you and Red can hook up sometime in July:

Thanks 'cat, but I don't think there coming down to Anchorage. In the summer I work 6/10s, so I don't think I'll make it up that far north.

Far out man! sounds good to me. I hate going down to Anchorage too, it totally blows, I have go down there for work, that is enough. I like the Glenn Hwy going North, it reminds me alot of Rt 14 down in Washington, where I used to ride all of the time. the only thing good about going down towards Anchorage is, I get to terrorize the Baggers hee-hee. If the weather holds up we outta do a ride this weekend. let me know.

I am suposed to have mon.-wed off. but I have to go into the office for a while in the morning, might have to go to pt. mac. tomorrow night. and I never really know when the phone is going to ring.

Common people, in the past week and a half I have put almost 300miles on my bike.

I have seen lots of bikes on the road.

Getting paid to ride is sweet. Had to run out to whittier(before the slide) and to port mac, all on the clock.

Looking at needing to go to seward next week and possibly valdez.

I would recommend getting some heated gloves for the spring and fall up here. besides that it gets pretty warm up north in the summer. bring bug repellent!:D and welcome from anchorage!

mooreman21
10th June 2009, 15:43

Gerbing heated insoles.

srrice40
15th June 2009, 09:21
I would definitely go in for some heated gloves for spring and fall. the weather up here has been unbelievable the last couple of weeks, high in the upper 60's low 70's every day, had a couple of rainy days not much though, I have been riding as much as possible, when she is not down and complaining. go luck and welcome to Alaska!
anything else, layers, layer your clothing in the spring and fall, it will be down right cold in the mornings, any where around 30 to 40. I always put on a hoodie with my jacket in the morning and thicker gloves, by the time I get off work it's much warmer. Oh since we have such a short riding season, we usually work on our bikes in the winter, atleast I know Tom and I do. I have a heated garage, so I am always down there on the weekends cutting on something LOL.
