I cant post pics yet.. but lets see if you guys can help me figure this out (I know you can)
under the seat of my newly aquired 1999 883, the is a small white and black box that has been tied into the factory wiring.
the biike came with LED brake light and rear turn signals.
could this be one of those load equzlizers for the lights. (I think thats what they are called) I have serached and found some great info but not what one of these look like.

Just trace the wires til you can make a SWAG about what it is.

That would be my first guess...
Just trace the wires til you can make a SWAG about what it is.
But MB has it right, identify the wire colors that it's tied into and figure out what circuit. If it's the turn signals, then you were right.

Actually that looks like a ballast resistor. Can you take any better pics? Maybe take it off the bike?
That's a 20 watt, 20 ohm power resistor. I hope it doesn't get too hot.:madhead

I will take it off tomorrow and shoot some better pics. I have a cold kicking my arse right now. figures I finally get a Sporty and then get sick two days later. must be all the freash air!!

No jwb is right it is a power resistor
a poor mans load equalizer.

I took a little bit better pic. the black plastic part does have HD molded into it underneath. could net get camera to focus that close though.

looks like a couple load resistors strapped to your fusebox to me
when you turn on your blinkers they get warm right?

or disconnect it and see if the flashers still flash....or whatever else doesn't work...
