Anyone know where I can download a copy of the owners manual for my bike, it's an '87 883. It came without one and I doubt that I can get the actual booklet from a dealer but someone may know where I might find a pdf of it - any ideas?

Go to eBay.
If there isn't one there, add it to your "search" and when one is listed, eBay will send you a link to the auction.

Yeah that's what I thought, I wouldn't mind if they were available over the counter, if they're not then it's just being petty to stop free distribution of them. I'll do the ebay search thing suggested above.

Thanks, I've bought it last night, I've already got the factory one, but what I want is the owners manual. The workshop manual doesn't tell you how the indicators work! It took me half an hour to figure out they don't stay on if you take your finger off the button - not sure if that is normal so I was hoping the owners manual would tell me what to expect. I'll have to mod that, maybe a 5 second on latch?
I tried to buy one from JP but they won't sell outside the States with paypal for the usual xenophobic reason, and I'm not gonna trust them with my credit card number so I'll have to wait for one to come up on ebay.

You can still get the owner's manuals from the dealership too.

You just need to be patient and keep watching eBay. I snagged an owner's manual, factory manual and a parts manual for my GF's 77 Ironhead by watching eBay.

FYI, the part number for an owner's manual for a 1987 XL is 99466-87. In 1987, all the models were in one owner's manual (except the police bikes.) You might find it in eBay listed under another model family. Good luck.

Thanks Chris, I'll alter my ebay saved search. Thanks to all the other suggestions too, I'll also try the Harley dealer, I never thought to check, just assumed they wouldn't have the older ones. Never assume eh?
