I don't know Kelly that may be a little to far out of the hood for you. :smoke \ We should copy this to the Cal and So Cal forum, This could be a good chance for us southern riders to meet some Mid state riders. Kelley 5th April 2007, 05:21 It's far up there. Used to go up there alot on business a few years ago. Really like the Central Coast and Santa Maria area. 82ndJumper 5th April 2007, 05:42 Hey JohnnyG. let me know what this is all about. Maybe I will head up your way for that ride. Got a couch for me? I dont think anybody south of me will go. It might be to far for them. Lets see. itsshemp 5th April 2007, 05:48 We should keep an eye on this one. The closer we get the better idea I will have if I can do it. That's about the rigth time frame that I was thinking about a trip out that way. Might be a good time to camp. itsshemp 5th April 2007, 16:46 Yep! Depending on my work situation, that may just work out. That is actually my last week at work, so it may be good timing. JohnT 5th April 2007, 17:08 As is noted in the link above, the entire event is contained at the fairgrounds (Santa Maria is a very small town—I live there—and there is no 'Main Street park-and-parade), with lots of camping space available in the park adjacent to the fairgrounds. It's usually well-attended and has the usual activities, vendors, etc, for this type of event. Aside from the obligatory poker run, it all takes place at the fairgrounds, so, aside from an increase in motorcycle traffic on the street from the freeway to the fairgrounds, it usually passes as a non-event as far as the rest of the community is concerned. itsshemp 5th April 2007, 17:49 As is noted in the link above, the entire event is contained at the fairgrounds (Santa Maria is a very small town—I live there—and there is no 'Main Street park-and-parade), with lots of camping space available in the park adjacent to the fairgrounds. So........ not a good event to attend? Johnny G 8th April 2007, 22:07 I think I am going to cruise up and check it out, who else wants to go JohnT 9th April 2007, 15:44 So........ not a good event to attend? Didn't say that. It's typical for this type of small event. The usual vendors, bikini girls, chopper builders, etc. The local H.O.G. chapter handles the parking, the poker run, etc. There's not much to do in town, but there's one bar (Maverick's) where some of the bikers will hang out and, of course, the dealer, Santa Maria H-D. Lots of good riding up here, so attendees seem to use the show as a base and ride out to the local beach communities or into the mountains. If you like these kinds of small Harley-oriented events, it's fine. Since the Paso Robles show closed down, it's the only bike show up here every year. itsshemp 9th April 2007, 16:44 Didn't say that. Yeah, I have been wanting to ride out in that area. My buddy has family in Paso Robles, and we have been wanting to take a trip up there, and ride a weekend up in that area. It sounds like maybe this may be another reason to head out that way, and check out that area. zooz 9th April 2007, 20:06 Me and my lady (thought better and erased old) are planning of leaving Frazier Park ,thats the top of the Gape vine off the 5fwy in the AM. Could meet anyone riding up there at the Jack n box right off the fwy. If not maybe well share a beer there. I'll probably have the only S with my black pipes. I have never seen one at a run yet. I perfer the smaller runs. Hollister is all cops and rubs trying to run into you. Stingray 5th May 2007, 16:31 I use to live in Santa Maria! I went to Community College there. I went to Allan Hancock College I had plans on attending Cal Poly up in San Luis, but I took a job off that I could not pass up and left state. I lived in Santa Maria for about 2.5 years and I also lived of Vandenberg Air Force Base for a little over 3 years. I really miss that area! I do not miss the cost of living in Cali. though. |
